I would actually have given this hotel a zero rating if I could. This is the worst hotel I have stayed in over 40 years. The hotel is tired , old, rundown and worst of all dirty !!! The bathrooms in particular are suffering from a total lack of cleaning for years. We started in room 1003 which was an annex room, this room was totally ridiculous, filthy and in serious need of repair. Raised with the TUI rep who raised with management, they agreed to upgrade us to a balcony room but not until the next day, TUI rep did say surely this room will at least be clean, how wrong she was, bathroom was again filthy, we went straight up to reception and complained, this room was 330. The receptionist then showed my wife and I 3 further rooms all with the same or worse issues, while showing us the rooms we were asked not to take pictures or complain !!! We were given another room on the Monday, again the bathroom was not clean, room 226. TUI were going to move us if possible on the Tuesday evening, but there was a possible water shortage where they were going to move us to, so we reluctantly stayed. In total we lived out of our suitcases for the first 5 days of our holiday. In general the hotel was damp, rusty and poorly maintained, probably never been maintained in years or thoroughly cleaned. Outside there were electrical cables cut off and sticking out the ground. The food started off poor but did get better although not hot enough. The air conditioning vents were filthy. I could go on and on but in general TUI who appeared concerned and interested were not really and we are still trying to get suitable compensation. Tui are as much to blame as they are still giving this a 4T rating when at best it should be a 2T and certainly should not be dirty. Please take this review seriously and do not book this hotel.

The hotel itself was lovely and with minor improvements could be fantastic The free bus was great but if you were a couple of minutes late you were left so be careful The private beach was a joke about 8 sun beds in a little triangle roped off and described as pebble beach were very hard to walk on But The food was inedible I had bread and butter for dinner 2 nights and lettuce with beetroot on another night I have never seen food like it we were so excited about going to Italy but very disappointed The bottles of water were filled onsite and had a very bad taste We had to go to the only shop in walking distance and pay 2.50 for a small bottle I had upset tummy all week my mam was very sick for the last couple of nights and everybody we spoke to had someone who was ill with then

We have stayed on the Sorrentine peninsula several times, but it was our first time staying a little out of town, in Meta Di Sorrento. We found Mar Hotel Alimuri the perfect base for our Sorrento and Amalfi travels. There’s a huge amount of things to be positive about with the hotel: we found the decor charming and traditional (where others have maybe claimed it’s tired and in need of modernisation). We have stayed in beautiful hotels on the coast and I think they all have a similar vibe. Sure, some parts of the hotel needed a lick of paint, but I sense this is all in the pipeline as it’s clear the hotel is investing in itself. The staff were always friendly and went out their way to make us feel welcome. A lovely waitress went of her way and found some biscuits for my daughter after she demanded them. They were always willing to grab you drinks and nothing was ever too much trouble. I found the food good generally, breakfast lots of choice. I’m not a fussy eater, but I still felt there was something for everyone. If you fancy eating out of the hotel, there are some amazing restaurants within walking distance (Tavernetta 58 one of the best meals I’ve ever had). I did find the cocktails slightly inconsistent so I think this is an area they could work on. Not sure espresso martinis should be served with ice cubes and zero espresso, but I get that this can be challenging at an all inclusive (Frozen margaritas were delicious). The sunset is absolutely breathtaking and I’d recommend you have drinks there as many times as you can. The shuttle is also very convenient to get into Sorrento, but have a wander round Meta too. A few areas for improvement would be including water in the room fridges, maybe having a better coffee offering (I’m not sure the coffee machine at breakfast gives a good account of Italian coffee) and sorting the showers out (water goes everywhere) ! BUT overall, we had a fantastic time and at the price point, we think it’s fabulous. Will hopefully return in the future! Thank you.

Well, where do I start, we arrived home yesterday from Mar Alimuri Spa 4 star hotel, I did read a few negative reviews about this hotel but I thought perhaps people were a little too fussy and as I am not the kind to complain I thought surely this lovely 4 star spa hotel couldn’t be as bad as some were saying on trip advisor! How very wrong I was, if you are looking to book this hotel please don’t, it’s terrible, dirty entrance which from the outside looks like a back street workers hostel, step inside and you are met by a damp smell which gets worse when you go to your room! The spa wasn’t open, they said it was under repair but we were advised we could use the toilets on the same floor as the spa! It absolutely stinks and as rotting furniture standing against the very damp walls, the smell is horrendous! Our balcony light, or should I say what should be a light was 3 wires sticking out of the wall above the door! I asked after 4 nights if our bedding could be changed but when we got back to our room that afternoon it had not been done so I went and found one of the house keeping girls, I asked her if she spoke and understood English to which she replied yes madam, so I asked could our bed have clean linen put on to which she replied, I no understand!! So I took some clean sheets and pillow cases off her trolly and headed to our room but she then understood so she came and changed the bed for me, she wasn’t happy!! The food is all Luke warm, and lacks any flavour, believe me I could go on and on, the safe didn’t lock. The hairdryer didn’t work, the entertainment is abysmal and the drinks all seemed watered down! And the view onto the shingle beech is shocking unless you want to look at a rusty old digger!! We paid almost £2500 to stay at this hotel, do yourself a massive favour and DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! Needless to say I am now contacting Tui, this hotel should not be on Tui booking system!

The actual hotel must have been very grand in its day, unfortunately, it needs some remedial work. The rooms are nice, but not the ones in the annex, people were demanding being moved as there were no balconies or fire escape, the biggest let down was the food, it was just about edible. Same boring salads EVERY DAY, same boring dry pasta dishes. The roasts were better but nothing to go with it except spinach, not even gravy. If you wanted an omelette or fried egg for breakfast you had to dig the chef out of the kitchen , he was never ever there. It’s not a spa hotel, the basement looks like a bombs gone off, I doubt it’ll be finished in five years. The staff were warm and friendly. Not even a porter to help with the luggage and no breakfast if you’re leaving at 7 despite assurances that the restaurant WOULD open early for us. There were a lot of disappointed guests there. Forget the evening entertainment too, the singer COULDN’T SING, he got a slow handclap and there was nowhere to escape from the deadly din. Glasses from the night before left on tables, not cleared away until 10 in the morning, towels not changed, beverages in the room not re-filled. My room smelt musty and my clothes reeked. The loungers had no cushions and were uncomfortable but towels were supplied. I also think the drinks were watered down, I’ve never tasted Gordon’s gin like that given, it was peculiar. They push the wine but it’s cheap plonk, like drinking lemonade. Certainly not a 4*, better value to be had elsewhere..

Went for my wifes birthday on a late deal for the weekend. Stayed in rooms 230 and 232 which had balconies and wonderful views of the Bay of Naples. First mention is for the hotel staff who are all hard working and friendly. The decor of the hotel was great as you felt like you were staying in Italy rather than a UK travel lodge. The choice of drinks at the bar was great with Peroni on draught and loads of handmade cocktails available. As for the food there wasnt loads of choices as you get in some Spanish hotels but there was always something you fancied. The free shuttle bus to go to Sorrento was good. There was entertainment two of the three nights we were there who were enjoyable and got people up dancing. The sunsets from the bar terrace are amazing. This review is our own experience and I would definately return again on a short break.

Where do I start. The holiday was booked online from From the Tui website and it looked ideal for us.It was my partners birthday and retirement so we were celebrating. On arrival we quickly noticed that the hotel was in need of a complete refurb or demolishing. The pool and beach pictures on the website were NOT those of this hotel. It was dirty and uninviting to use.We were upgraded to a sea view room but refused it because of the mould and damp and the smell. Then they moved us to the room we had booked which was frankly not much better. After a discussion with the rep we were stuck with it.Food ,well disgraceful is the only way to describe it.All guests were complaining about the food. The bar area was unclean and the furniture was old, torn and shabby.Flys were in abundance especially around the one and only lager pump. The free shuttle service was timed to four trips a day in and out of Sorrento but if you get the last one back you have to pay.A taxi back is fifty euros each way ouch! .i could go on and on but it's pointless as Tui haven't even replied to our complaint.Im sure there some wonderful hotels but beware of this one

I always like to make my own decisions regarding hotel stays, so having read a lot of the reviews regarding the Alimuri, we arrived with an open mind. We arrived late at night in the middle of the most horrendous weather and after checking in and being given our key (a single old fashioned key) we were told we could go to the restaurant for a cold platter. It was half a boiled egg and some cold pasta with some bread and butter and a bottle of wine and water. Ummm! Our room - a leak in the bathroom making the floor slippery, a broken wardrobe door which wouldn’t open and the sockets for the kettle not working….ooooh not a good start. Went to reception who promptly gave me another kettle. Went back upstairs to make a cuppa as you do,poured the creamer in and it all curdled. Unhappy face! Before breakfast, spoke to reception about our issues and to be fair by the time we returned to our room, the wardrobe had been fixed and a towel had been placed under the leak. The receptionist had come to find us and told us we were being upgraded to a junior suite, which was a lovely surprise……..it had a jacuzzi! Happy face! Food - as others have said, there is not the variety you would get in a bigger hotel complex and the food is never very hot. You will always find something to eat even if it’s the lovely rolls and butter but don’t expect 4 star dining. Drinks - plentiful. Wine by the bottle! Mineral water freely given out. Lovely ice cream Internet - pretty good on the whole but can drop if the weather is bad Shuttle bus - excellent for going into Sorrento but needs to be booked early the day before as gets booked up pretty quickly. Things to do in the immediate vicinity - unless you are very fit and don’t mind walking, there isn’t much around todo to entertain you. The local bus isn’t too far away and runs every 20 mins into Sorrento. There is also a train about 15 mins walk from the hotel . The hotel is very old and in need of renovating but it has character and is kept spotlessly clean by the staff. The swimming pool - it’s flippin freezing! Newly refurbished but there is no heating. Apparently the sea is warmer. The staff - they are fantastic. Always a smile and a greeting for you. They are very helpful and will usually do their best to help you. Would we stay here again……probably not. Maybe because we have been spoilt by hotels in Croatia and Gran Canaria, which are far superior given the same star rating. It just wasn’t for us.

Where do I start….. This hotel is NOT 4* you’ll be lucky if it’s 2*, please don’t book thinking it’s 4. The hotel is very very run down and dirty, it smells terribly of mould and damp, everything is out dated, the rooms, the common areas, the lifts, the restaurant and bars. The food or terrible, we were all inclusive but only eat here twice after getting sickness and diarrhoea, I was not alone as I’m aware of at least 10-15 people who had the same and rumours of Noro Virus in the hotel maybe spread by the little black bugs in the beer. The rep confirmed that there were people who were ill. The Spa as advertised with TUI closed over 4 years ago, picture attached with collapsed ceiling. No laundry service, no room service, our air con would not blow cold. We checked in after midnight and I was at reception at 9 the next morning complaining, blood on my sheets, cobwebs in the room, toilet stains (shi*t) to name a few. Some of the staff were lovely but most in the restaurant had an attitude. I reported all of this to TUI rep Henry who must have felt brow beaten by the Que at his desk saying the same things, damp, cleanliness, condition, rust everywhere etc etc. this hotel was probably nice in its day 70’s or 80’s but not now, all in all this is an very strong AVOID hotel if you expect and basic level of cleanliness and food hygiene. Do not believe the photos on TUI they must be from 10 or more years ago. I will be taking this up with TUi but really it’s GTO’s the hotel owners responsibility. L
