Hotel del Almirante

I have to support all the positive reviews about this hotel. The hotel is unique and should be viewed that way. We were there in Sept with Kevin and others and found the clientele exceptional. This is a hotel not suited families which is obvious to most. For the team at the hotel, you are doing a great.job and we all love you and the hotel. We are returning twice next year for a relaxing and great holiday. Thank you.

The hotel was immaculate. All areas clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and friendly. We had a awesome time and would book again. The pool area although not huge was lovely. A few tweaks could make it even better. Tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms would be nice. As bar shuts from 3 ,to 5 and there is nowhere to even get a bottle of water.We went half board, but unfortunately the evening meal was not up to standard, this did impact our view of the hotel somewhat. Would we return, a definite yes but only b and b.

We had a wonderful week in this small friendly hotel, at the end of September. We received a warm welcome,and were able to access our bed rooms even though it was only mid-day.Every where was spotlessly clean,. There is a wonderful view of the entrance to the harbour from the breakfast room and balcony, and plenty of places to sit and relax.The bar food was good,and drinks were reasonably priced. Dinner was available in the dining room, choice was limited. A minor problem with visitors using the pool was quickly sorted by the management. Definitely a hotel where I would like to return.

There is no denying this hotel is lovely and the staff are all extremely friendly and polite. The rooms are cleaned daily and the hotel itself is immaculate. Unfortunately the clientele of this hotel is retirees whom return year after year to role play as though they own the place. They sit reading and should you dare make a noise you are met with a very disapproving glare. There aren't enough sunbeds around the pool nor are there anywhere near enough bistro table and chairs outside the rooms situated by the pool. We were in a room in the main house and we were woken every morning around 2.30am onwards by cockerels nearby. They go on for hours and hours. We were also practically above the bar so we heard barrels being moved and chairs being scraped, sometimes upto closing time. Es Castell is literally a tiny harbour with some overpriced seafood restaurants around it. Most of these are fully booked so it can be difficult to just walk in. There's nothing else there. Everything in Es Castell and Mahon close at about 2pm till 5pm then reopen at 5pm. The hotel lacks any atmosphere. As we were leaving a family with children booked in. The regulars were mortified and actually went to reception to ask how long they had booked for! They were then chirping it's a respectable establishment, seemingly forgetting their nightly walk from the bar to their room clinging to the wall as they were 4 bottles of plonk deep. It's not a place to relax at all. We enjoyed getting the bus and getting about the island. It's also the first time I've never been able to get a late check out, wasn't an issue but you have to leave your belongings right in reception. When I asked about late check out I was told they're fully booked, ok I get that but to then follow on with " good for business, not for customers". All the people returning thinking the managers are their friends...! If you want a bit of life do yourselves a favour and go to Saint Tomas or Punta Prima. Much nicer area and less pretentious people.

Just returned from our first trip to menorca and of course this lovey small hotel. Situation and the friendliest of staff I have ever experienced. They all took pride in what they do which delivered a fantastic experience. Svery clean and spotless throughtout the hotel. Food was simple but very fresh and tasty. To be so near to Mahon and nearby bustop to the central station, made it very easy to get around the island without having to hire a car.

Our second visit to this amazing hotel. The clientelle are generally older people, there are no children. Or there were no children on either of our visits. You need to walk a lot to get anywhere.. Mahon takes 20 mins and EsCastel is a tiny bit closer. There are lots of restaurants nearby. But the hotel serves nice meals in the evening, all reasonably priced, and the wine portions are VERY generous. Staff are fabulous and the place is spotlessly clean. Bus stop is at the end if the drive. Or whoever is on reception will order you a taxi or help rent a car.
