Had visited this hotel during Holi from 14-16th march 2025. Everything was good..but we face issue with the payment during the stay.. bymistake excess amt was been paid by my friend and we realised it when we did the calculations aftr checkout and immediately called the hotel. Today they said they can't reverse the excess amt.. giving some auditing crap. Did not expect this kind of service from the hotel

The Byke heritage is supposedly the oldest resort/building in Matheran . In my honest opinion the term "Heritage" is used here to sugar coat/ make up for what is a mediocre and ill-maintained resort. I have stayed here long back( 10 years or so ago) and it was at its prime then...but sadly everything is still the same ..in other words deteriorated with time. In order to avoid being biased, I will divide the review into pros and cons...to give a fair assessment. Cons- The resort is old and maintenance/ upgrade is minimal or non existent. Rooms are very different in shapes, sizes and location. Some are modern , some are small , some are airy and some are dingy. Some with balcony and some without. And there are permutations and combinations of above. But the only constant is lack of attention and maintenance. in our stay we had to change 3 rooms and we still were dissatisfied. The first room had leakage and wall plaster falling off. The 2nd room was dingy and felt claustrophobic and smelt like mold . The 3rd which was given to us after a serious argument with the management was acceptable but was a duplex cottage i.e one cottage with one bed below with one attic type room in the same room . So we basically had 4 adults and 4 kids sharing the same space. I must mention that the management and staff there are LEAST bothered about the guests . The housekeeping and bell boys are much better and should be recognised for atleast their acceptance of the fact that there are some shortcomings and they genuinely try to help. The checkin experience was average and no information given ( no location of room, amenities, food timings.). nothing! They asked us for id and payment . Mind you we have made advance payment at booking and they wanted the entire balance amount even before check in . I can understand why... because they know once the guest sees the room...they will realise they are being short-changed. We reached the resort at 2pm and despite being almost empty we got a room by 5.30pm... due to the struggles mentioned above. The rooms as mentioned are extremely dated and maintained. There is no element of design or thought given...it seems like a 8 year old was given a project to put a room together. Beds , walls, bathroom, decor ...all are disparate. Its just patched together. Our bathrooms had a glass partition for an area which didn't have any use..but the shower didn't even have a curtain. The toiletries were average. The beds / sheets were definitely not cleaned daily. The pillows ...bad and saggy. There were 2 airconditioners but one didn't have a remote and on asking..they said..its not there. The resort is vast and huge and lot of greenery but ZERO direction on where the rooms are. There are many more anomalies but I will sum it up by saying..keep your expectations low..very low. We went as a couple. Our stay was for 3 nights...May be matheran is loosing its earthy charm that it had 15 years back. The crowded spots,the E rickshaw, the tiled pathways..were a turn off... But change will happen and we may be a generation behind not getting used to the convenience.. We preferred walking & old means of transportation. The hotel was descent ,a huge property. The room upkeep was ok..The bathroom was not so well planned..and we're a turn off. But the positive side was the food..especially the thali for lunch. The DJ music with DJ Sameer was awesome. The live singing by Gauri.. The mocktails.. Overall stay was good. But that's all we can expect from Matheran where the upkeep is difficult. The major pills point is no vehicles... But hey please maintain the serenity.

recently visited the resort from 25th november to 27th november for 2 nights. i stayed at their delux luxary pool view room. i have booked 2 rooms of the same category. what i found is that there are few negative reviews on various sites. but actually there is nothing negative about the resort. its well maintained absolutely fatastic resort. pros : huge property, very clean & green and will give you heritage vibes. they have nice swimming pool for adults and pool with slides for children. they have bar with sitting facility. though very limited varities to choose from. inhouse games zone , advanture activities also available. rooms are specious, well lit and clean with huge sitting area outside the room facing pool, bathrooms are very clean. they have back up generator for any electricity failure. in my 2 nights i have not faced any power cut because of generator facility. breakfast is very tasty and at poolside with very nice spread. a la carte lunch and dinner is tasty. they have live music nights on weeekends with a fabulous singer ms. gauri singing various songs. she is very talented and have a very beautiful voice. they have dj night as well after the live music session by ms gauri. dj sameer khan is excellent dj and you will love to dance on his tunes. resort staff is highly polite , quick in service and well mannered. hotel check in to check out is all smooth. they have running hot water through out the day. spa is excellant . ms varsha in ladies section and mr anil in gents section.they both are highly trained . its highly recommanded that you must visit to them atleast once to them during your visit. cons: resort should provide hot water kettle and mini fridge in rooms. its now a comman facility across all the hotels- resorts. food items in menu are very limited , restaurant must include few more food items. overall its a very good & pleasant stay for me. i would highly recommand the byke heritage for your stay.

Close to charlotte lake & points, beautiful well maintained spacious property. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Ensure you keep the doors closed, else monkeys can get inside. We had the dinner buffet and bfast there. Both were tasty and the spread was good. They have a disco as well that we did not use. I used the spa. Got an accupressure massage. The masseuse Varsha is very good and I am glad for taking the massage. The property is 15-20 mins walk from Charlotte lake, Lords point, Pisarnath temple and Cecil point. It is also 20mins walk to Alexander point in a different direction. It is 15-20 mins walk from railway station. Horse ride from station to Byke will cost approx 100-150 and from Dastur point will cost approx 650. There are hand drawn single seater ricks as well whose cost we didnt ask. Elderly people or families with kids were using them. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, we would stay here again and recommend it to our friends and family.
