Bruny Island

Great two bed cottage tucked away from civilisation. Don’t forget to pick up keys at the pub on your way through. Well located for an early trip to the lighthouse but away from everything else - I would prefer to stay at Adventure Bay if visiting again. Don’t forget to bring food. Some recent Renos at least in Cottage 1. Clean and comfy. Lovely outlook off back deck. Only dirty thing I noticed was the light shade in the main bedroom!

Th we cabins were a bit underwhelming. Location was good but the actual cabins had a few issues. Even though we checked in at the hotel well past the check in time cleaners had only just started which meant that we had to find something to do for the next hour or so… no mean feat on Bruny where everything is at least 20 kms away. The actual cabin was satisfactory although the shower door leaked, vertical blinds broken ( who would have them anyway in this century!), cutlery missing and basic kitchen utensils provided but considering this is a ‘foodie’ destination should have been a bit better outfitted! The laundry appliances did not seem to work properly. The cabins look new but everything else seemed a bit old.

We stayed at Explorer Cottages as we required accommodation at short notice & almost everywhere else was booked. Work is being undertaken so the grounds look like a work in progress; one wall on the carport side wasn’t lined or painted & the deck has seen better days with rusty chairs. Inside was OK with all we needed except a small milk in the fridge would have been appreciated. With our unit, if you have a large/high vehicle it would be a struggle driving into the carport due to the steep driveway & low height of carport. Reversing out with our medium SUV was bad enough with not much room to swing at the top. Due to the tight angle on the gravel, each time we had to turn left when going anywhere, the tyres would spin. Hopefully the driveway is concreted soon. Overall clean & comfortable inside but lots of Portuguese millipedes in the bathroom in the morning on the floor & doors! The cost - overpriced.
