The quality of service has declined dramatically since we first stayed at this hotel nine years ago. We liked the chain so much that the following year we stayed at another one in Edinburgh. This time, however, the service has been terrible. Let's start with breakfast, which did not live up to the price. Every day something was missing: pastries, juices, cereals, yogurts.... The variety of fruit was scarce, the quality of the products was quite poor.... The lack of staff in the dining room with a full hotel caused problems to get a clean table. There were queues in front of the coffee machine, queues at the toaster... An organizational disaster. In addition, the 'optional' cleaning service also chooses to clean or not when it's required. In five nights, we asked for it once. It was limited to changing towels, stretching the bed in a hurry (no change of sheets) and emptying the garbage cans. In the bathroom, the same stains remained on the faucets. Hardly a cloth was wiped over the toilet or the sink. The lack of staff has been so notorious that the same person who attended the reception put a beer in the bar or received the orders from the kitchen with shifts of too many hours. Also, after the refurbishment that has been carried out in the facilities, one would expect the noise from the train to be quite muffled with better windows and soundproofing, but this is not the case.
