Govindamangalam Homestay is a beautifully appointed century-old house with a tranquil garden conveniently located in Mattancherry, a short auto (tuk-tuk) ride from Fort Cochin. Following a long train journey from Kannur and a traffic jam from the station, our night arrival was later than planned! Boshi not only welcomed us into our cool and comfortable room, but gave us a lift to the restaurant to which we were planning to walk to for dinner! The delicious dosas, coconut chutney and coffee the next morning were a perfect start to our short stay. We wish we’d booked an additional day or two…

I had always heard that homestays enabled a traveller get a true sense of a place. I, therefore, chose Govindamangalam Homestay in Matancherry when I decided to visit to Fort Kochi in Kerala. The house is positioned in a peaceful residential neighbourhood and is surrounded by greenery. There’s also a beautiful small pond behind the property, which Deepa, the manager, told me would soon be operational. The interiors are stunning, and the home is filled with numerous antique furniture pieces. I had a lovely time at the homestay. Apart from Deepa, I also had a great time with Boshi and the cook, Raju Etan. His food is to die for! Anyone travelling to Fort Kochi should definitely stay at Govindamangalam Homestay. I would, for sure, stay there again on my next visit to Kerala.

Located a five minute walk away from Jew Town and a short distance from Fort Kochi, this guest house is perfect for a quiet and relaxed stay in Kochi. The house is lovely and has a nice front garden where you can sit. The rooms are spacious and well furnished. In the morning they provided a delicious Keralan breakfast, with a continental option also available. The owners of the guesthouse Deepa, Boshi and Suresh did their upmost to ensure we had the most comfortable stay and were able to make the most of our time in Kochi. Deepa was on hands throughout our stay offering recommendations for good places to eat, beaches to visit, local events and even recommended a nice spa. She arranged our transport to the airport, booked our massages and even gave us a lift back in her car from an event at the Kochi Biennale. When my mum was not feeling well Boshi made her some lemon tea and Suresh even offered to call his doctor to see her. Being so far from home it was comforting to know we were being looked after so well. The level of care provided by this home stay is some of the best I have ever experienced. I thoroughly recommend Govindamangalam Homestay for a relaxed and enjoyable stay in Kochi.

If you are travelling to kochi for the first time or are a repeat traveller like me, I would highly recommend Govindamangalam for a stay. The place is extremely beautiful. It has the old world charm which transports you instantly into a relaxed, calm and happy state of mind. It is very clean and has all the luxuries expected from a modern B&B. The connectivity to Fort Kochi and all the land marks of Matancherry is an added bonus. The cherry on the cake is the hospitality extended by Deepa, Boshi and Raju. Deepa is a great host and she can guide you to the off the route, lesser known interesting spots and is she has time she may accompany you on exploratory walks too. My original plan was to stay there for a couple of days but ended up extending my stay and stayed for 5 days instead. For sure I am returning for another stay soon and would recommend this place to anyone visiting kochi.

The property has beautiful exteriors and interiors. It has been maintained well and you can also spot the various antique furniture and show pieces used to spruce up the place. The property manager-Deepa ***** with Boshy and Raju ettan took great care of us . We stayed in the room called Vishnu which was not only spacious but also very cozy , warm and comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone coming to Kochi for visits as both Fort Kochi and Mattanchery are very near to the homestay

Stayed here after a recent business trip to the city. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful sojourn in an aesthetically furnished traditional Kerala home, then Govindamangalam is the right place for you. This is the carefully preserved ancestral home of Mr. Suresh, an extremely thoughtful and kind hearted gentleman. My conversations with him were truly the highlight of my stay there. Thanks also to Deepa, Boshi and Raju for their hospitality. They all went out of their way to ensure that I had a comfortable stay. Already hoping to be back there soon - this time for a longer stay!

My wife and myself had a very pleasant stay at Govindamangalam Home. The hospitality was top notch with cultural touch. Right from word go, the host Boshi was very accommodative and very approachable . The 100+ years home is very well furnished and beautifully maintained . It's much more than just a place to stay. Apart from carrying the glory of traditional Kerala heritage home , it's a house full of positive vibes. We must mention about Mr. Raju, the caretaker of the house for almost 40 years who impressed us with his dedication and amazing culinary skills. When we requested for a ginger chai, he immediately made one of the excellent ginger chai we ever had (he said he was an amateur). His kadala curry was one more of its kind and he was very nice enough to tell us the recipe. The place is owned by a very special personality Mr Suresh. We heard a lot about him but missed to meet him since he was at his native place. Overall, Govindamangalam home made our trip to Kochi worthwhile. Our sincere thanks to Boshi for finest hospitality , Raju for amazing food and Suresh sir for Govindamangalam.

I stayed with my wife and three kids at Govindamangalam Homestay for a night last week. It was one of the best experiences we had at a hotel. The staffs were very welcoming and friendly. Boshi and Rajuchettan did a very good job hosting us. The highlight of our stay was breakfast, You must have their dosa, idli and Sambar. I highly recommend the place anyone who wants to have a nice staying experience in Kochi. This is a heritage property, the house is more than 100 years old.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Govindamangalam Homestay for two nights, and I can honestly say that it was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had. The homestay is located in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood in Kochi, and it is just a short walk from the Ernakulam Fort and the Mattancherry Palace. The homestay itself is a beautiful old colonial house that has been lovingly restored. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bathrooms are spotlessly clean. The best part about the Govindamangalam Homestay is the hospitality of the hosts. Suresh, Deepa, and Boshi are some of the kindest, most welcoming people I've ever met. They went out of their way to make sure that we had a comfortable stay, and they were always happy to answer our questions about Kochi and Kerala. This homestay has set a standard in our minds..and we tried to compare our other stays(as we were on a 10 day trip to Kerala and kanyakumari) with their standards..but no one could match them. There is a lot that make them stand out of crowd but all of that can't be mentioned so below are few of the highlights 1.It is at a 10-15 min walking distance from jew market. At 10 minz distance you can find shops and cafes.Spice market is also nearby and it is 20-25 minz away from ernakulam station 2.Each corner of the house is not only maintained but also decorated that take s you to the old times.Everywhere it's neat and clean. 3.Rooms are well equipped with all the necessities one can need at a stay like dressing area,kettle,tea coffee sachets,towel and wet cloth hangers,multiple seating options apart from beds,a closet, A.c,towels,toiletries 4.There is open area provided for you to enjoy evening teas if u wish and is a lotus pond inside. 5.There is a long road built inside the premises that leads to the homestay and makes sure you don't have parking issues 6.This homestay is run by three partners: a)Mr Suresh, a very humble and knowledgeable person,who is the owner of the house b)Mr Boshi,who looks after you during your stay and makes what you want available for you during your stay,with a very sweet smile on his face..the entire time c) Ms Deepa,who looks after the bookings and all All three are experts in their areas and leave no stone unturned for making things according to your comfort 7.Mr Raju is their family cook working for Mr.Sureshz family from last 40 years..and the food they serve you is authentic South Indian,freshly made in their kitchen for which Mr Raju starts preparation early morning around 4,and it is delicious too On our special request they even served us the breakfast at 5:30 in the morning as we had early flight. And more than you,they are concerned about your timings.
