In essence, Hurricane Shelter is provided at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center, one block West; and in case of Tsunami Warning, local residents drive up the close by Highway 552 towards Waimea Canyon / Koke`e Park. Most experts say that once you are at least 100 feet above sea level, you are out of Tsunami danger. This can be accomplished in approximately a five-minute drive from the house.
