Bassa Maina Villas & Suites

This hotel completely exceeded our expectations. What a glorious place in a beautiful part of Mani with the most wonderful hospitality by the team. Our Villa was exquisitely decorated and super comfortable. The quality of all the products from towels, linen, pillows and shower products are better than many 5* hotels that I’ve stayed in which added to our comfort and luxurious experience. Breakfast was delightful, in fact all the food was and It was with a heavy heart that we had to leave. We would like to sincerely thank Aggeliki, Maria, Ioanna and Dimitri for looking after us so well. Probably the most important compliment to share is that my teenage daughters were devastated to leave. This sums up how awesome our stay was.

This place is absolutely stunning. Nothing has been left to chance. Our suite - Casalore - was exceptionally well fitted out and large. The pool was perfect. The views stunning. Service, from check in to check out, was perfect. What works quite well is that the resort doesn't have many rooms, but they are all spread out over multiple levels. One some days we didn't see another guest, other than at breakfast. If you would like total relaxation, come here. It would have been nice if Limeni or Aeropolis were within walking distance. They are not, but driving is simple and easy enough (5 mins each, max), and there's a reliable taxi to both (15EUR and 20EUR each way, respectively).

Situated ideally between Areopolis, a picturesque village at the western side of the central Peloponnesian "leg" and Limeni, the wonderful historic fishing village, Bassa Maina blends with the environment. The villas and the main building are made of stone and their roofs are constructed according to the traditional customs of Mani of the yesteryears. Elevation is around 140 metres. There are 9 villas, each configurated differently, but with the same level of finishing quality and class. The view from their balconies is breathtaking, providing 180 degree vision. All shades of blue is an understatement. The sea, from cyan near the coast, to deep blue where they meet with the sky. The "deafening sound" of silence is broken only by the remote melodic and rythmic echo of a distant fishing boat or a "fast and furious" speed boat battling the waves when the sea is rough or just surfing during calm waters. Some villas offer private jacuzzis correctly set at 35C and carefully cleaned and sanitized. It's the perfect soothing relaxation overlooking the sea and the sunset. Internet is steady and covers the whole property. The swimming pool is nicely situated next to the bar and breakfast area. At 4mX10m and 1,5m deep it's perfect for cooling down and enjoying a refreshing swim if someone doesn't want to drive to nearby Limeni 5' away. All the staff is very polite, eager to assist, friendly, yet discrete. Anastasia, the young, natural red haired, charming assistant to the General Manager and Owner, Eleni K, will welcome, meet and assist you. Dinner was lovely, just after the sunset with the villas and the main building being illuminated and engulfed by a warm appealing light. The background music was carefully chosen and the volume was correctly set to be enjoyed trully in the background. All guests seem to respect the serenity offered and they keep their conversations at "low decibels" I strongly recommend the complex and I am looking forward to spending more days next year.

I planned a trip to Mani for 20 friends a very big responsibility. When it came to choosing a hotel I had no qualms. I had stayed at Bessa Maina when it first opened and I was enchanted and couldn’t wait to return. My expectations were shared by my friends. From the moment we arrived the warm welcome by beautiful Anastasia was a sure sign of what was to come. Each couple had their own villa and we shared Villa Rustica with another couple. All the villas shared a magnificent view but our Villa Rustica was truly enchanting with a huge terrace a hammock and beach beds from which we could watch the magnificent sunset surrounded by olive trees. Anastasia was there every morning to welcome us to breakfast on the terrace. The breakfast itself was another superb experience. None of that buffet stuff which most hotels provide. They had a rich varied menu from fresh fruits to all kinds of eggs including poached eggs. Plus a rich variety of pastries that was presented at the table with another variety of cheese all served by sweet Eleni who was always ready to cater to all our needs. Anastasia was always ready to help out with any tips about places to visit in Mani and to recommend and arrange for restaurant reservations. If you are looking for a zen holiday in the Poleponese in Greece Bassa Maina is your preferred destination. It certainly is mine I just booked for a family holiday in August.
