The room is too small. Hard to open the suitcase. The location is nice since it's near the market and the train station.

It’s a clean hostel and the location is extremely convenient, it’s just beside the bus stop. Also, the staffs there is super friendly and helpful that makes my check-in smooth.

因為行程改變,又加住了一晚,廚房設施雖然不是很大,但設施齊全,還有簡單的調料,有人經常打掃,因而非常整潔,很好!

I had booked a single room for Friday 20th Oct, but had to cancel due to disrupted buses and ferries because of the weather conditions. I phoned up the hostel at 2pm and they told me to contact *********** - who then referred me to email the hostel! This was the reply I had from Russell, the manager at Black Isle Hostel: "Unfortunately you have booked through a third party website and were outside the cancellation time for the booking, so the booking will be charged according to the cancellation terms and conditions." I dare say that this made me both sad and angry - this was a journey that I had been looking forward to and this way it ruined a lot for me as well as taking GBP 81.40 from me! First, last and only booking in that place!!!

Stayed at the Black Isle Hostel in Inverness, rooms are very tight and so the beds, showers were clean, but some toilets looked absolutely terrible with flushing not working,an extremely small kitchen with just a couple of plates plus reception closing very early at 8 pm,towels to rent for £ 2. Will stay somewhere else next time,do not recommend it!

This is a budget hostel. It's basic and still manages to be pretty good. The hostel was clean and the facilities were great. Check in was simple, the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything you could need was there. Showers, a kitchen, a descent diningroom/lounge and secure storage for bikes. The location could not be better, right in the heart of Inverness.

Kitchen is poor considering the size. It barely fits 3 people in. One hob, one microwave and 1 portable oven. Guests weren't great at cleaning after themselves. Comfy bed. Great powerful and hot showers. Conveniently located next to train station.

Stayed in Dorm 16 for one night. Check-in was straightforward as I’d already booked online and reception gave me the pass card along with instructions to make my own way to the room. The bed was made of metal frame and really sturdy. Despite having a bunk mate, I slept really well. A cage locker was provided underneath the bed and you’ll need a lock to secure it. I had a medium sized backpack and had no trouble fitting it into the locker. The bed also came with a private light and USB port. The entire hostel is clean. Despite the 6 bed dorm being full, there was no mess and smelt fine. The male toilets and bathrooms were in the same room, clean and functional. The shower had a delay tap that only sprayed water for 15 seconds, which is pretty short. There’s no control for the temperature shower, although it was hot enough for me. The main downside is the stairs. The reception is on the 2nd floor, rooms on the 1st and there’s no lift. The common room and shared kitchen are also on the 2nd floor. Location wise, the hostel is close to plenty of cafes. Restaurants, the attraction in Inverness, the high street and supermarkets.

Reviews are tricky when the overall experience is adversely affected by issues outside the accommodation's control. The advantages of this hostel's city centre location, close to bus & train stations, are outweighed by round the clock noise pollution from traffic and drunks disturbing the peace until 3am which inevitably results in a sleepless night. Ear plugs are absolutely essential. Checking in before 8pm is recommended as later arrivals need to report to a nearby bar to collect their entry card. Usual hostel facilities are offered and credit is due for cleanliness and the modern decor. Although the bunks do not have curtains, there are individual charging points & a light. No hot water in ablutions prior to 6.30am so for early starters it's an army style cold shower or do without. The manager is a likeable gentleman with many years experience in the hospitality sector and this is evident in his professional but courteous manner. If I was to return to this hostel I'd want to do so at a time when it is quieter in the hope of getting at least some sleep.

It does the job but that's about it. We stayed 2 nights during our Isle of skye trip. The shared room was big enough for 4 people to move around but besides of 2 bunk beds there was absolutely nothing else in the room. A chair or two might have been great as when you are at the bottom bunk you can't sit on it as the top bunk is set to low. The beds were fairly comfortable but noise every time you moved. The bathrooms very supposedly cleaned but def weren't, the sign was just put up. The floors in the shower were dirty, only two hooks, so the chance of your stuff getting wet were pretty high. Also super annoying was the push and stop buttons in the shower, they turn of every 15 sec or so, it's annoying to take a shower. Same for the "give it a good yank" in the toilets, most of the time the yank wasn't enough and the toilets didn't flush. The kitchen upstairs is small, we only stored something in the fridge but I wouldn't cook there as it's just waaaaay to small. The good thing is the location as it's right around the corner from the bus stop. If you simple need a place to stay overnight, I would say it's alright but still too expensive for what is offered.

I had a great overnight stay here on my cycle trip round Scotland. Very welcoming and friendly member of staff helped me securely store my bike. Very clean and quiet and a nice kitchen with all facilities/ utensils and also a nice place to relax after a hard day.

My friend and I were lucky enough to snag a room with a bunkbed so we didn't have to actually share sleeping space with any strangers. The showers were clean. The toilets were ok, although there seemed to be a perpetual dearth of loo roll. We were content with it for what it was: a place to sleep. It wasn't really very comfortable to just hang out in unless you wanted to sit on the floor (there was a narrow strip of floor) or had the top bunk. They give you a pillow and a duvet, and the bedding was clean, but aside from that the room is just a room with nothing else. Since we were mostly out doing stuff, we didn't really care, but the lack of in-room seating and such might bother others. There was a lounge area with several tables and couches/armchairs that we hung out in one evening and enjoyed that quite a bit. There was a communal kitchen which neither of us used but I did peek in at one point to see if there was a microwave (there was, but I didn't end up using it). We stayed several nights and liked that it was close to pretty much everything in Inverness proper that we wanted to see. It was a pretty busy hostel but it didn't feel frenetic or crowded.

I stayed one night in this hostel as a single occupant of a room with two bunk beds.  The room was completely empty except for the bunkbeds and two lockable cages underneath the beds.  There were no chairs, no table, no wastebasket, no shelves, no hooks, no mirror.  When I entered the room, the beds were not made up and the bedding was lying on the floor.  The window was open and I was not able to close it, so the room was very cold.  I reported these problems to the two guys at reception and they sorted things out promptly.  But I wondered why these problems had not been detected and put right before I arrived.  Also, it was clear that the floor of my room had not been hoovered after the last occupant. I visited the women's bathroom.  Superficially it looked clean.  There were four toilets but none of them flushed properly, so there was solid matter and toilet paper in the toilet bowls that hadn't been flushed away.  One of the seats was broken. In the showers there was nowhere to leave your clothes. The hostel is not cheap: they charged me £55 per night plus £2 pounds for hire of a towel.  This is the same as I was charged elsewhere in Scotland for incomparably better, fully furnished hostel rooms with ensuite bathrooms. I would never stay in this hostel again and I do not recommend it to other travellers.

Let's start with the good stuff. The dorm, the bathroom, and the communal areas were all really clean all the time. There was no big croud. The receptionists were very nice and friendy (one of them even ensured that I'd have a room to myself for two nights). The wifi was decent. The location is absolutely great, close to everything you could possibly want to see in Inverness, and the bus station is a minute away. However, there were some things to be improved on: the push-button shower system is absolutely horrible (the water stops every 15 seconds, awful), and some of the toilets don't flush properly. Other than that, it was great!
