So we were staying on Tahiti but planned a day trip by ferry/car to Morrea. After sunset we planned to return to the port to take the ferry back to Tahiti. We got back to the port but no ferry! There happened to be a girl there so I asked if it's late. She said no ferry till the next day!! (I had booked the wrong day) She was on the fone with someone in French and finally said...come over here! So Timmy showed up and he happened to be the supervisor at the Manava. After speaking with his friend at the front desk, even though the resort was sold out, Timmy was able to offer us a very special, low rate that even included breakfast. Still stunned we drove to the resort and saw his friend (sorry his name starts with L) checked us in and helped us with other questions we had AND then take us to our room to show us around. We were treated to a garden bungalow (pictured) with private pool and garden. The room itself was enormous with all amenities and comfort. After we settled we went to the bar to relax and have some bar food. When we were there the live entertainment was just leaving but the scene was still very active. The next morning after breakfast, we headed to the infinity pool which was fantastic. The views were amazing in all directions. The view to the sea includes the overwafer bungalows and the opposite view was the hotel and the dramatic mountains rising in the background. We've been to a lot of resorts and can tell sincerity of the staff and at the Manava everyone smiled and offered Tahitian hospitality at every corner. We were able to spend some time after checkout at the pool until, sadly, it was time to leave for our ferry (we booked accurately this time). I'm in the travel business myself and have been telling everyone when in Morrea, the Manava is the place to be. A warm maururu to Timmy and his staff for saving us and making us feel welcomed.

Das Hotel liegt an einer schönen Lagune mit einem Hausriff was sich bestens zum Schnorcheln eignet. Das die Anlage in die Jahre gekommen ist stellt man an allen Ecken des Hotels fest. Der kleine Pool ist in einem heruntergekommenen Zustand überall geht der Lack ab und es macht keinen Spaß in diesem zu baden. Das man am Pool für 3 Personen des öfteren nur 1 Handtuch sich abholen kann mit dem Hinweis das die Wäscherei gerade nicht nachkommt ist zwar kein großes Drama aber in der Summe der Mängel störend. Auch die Gartenbungalows mit Pool sind zwar in Ordnung aber die lieblos dekorierte Terrasse mit den völlig kaputten Liegen lädt nicht gerade zum verweilen ein. Beim Abendessen im Strandrestaurant bekommt man die Vorspeisen gleichzeitig mit den Hauptspeisen serviert und das mehrere Getränke laufend einfach vergessen werden ist noch harmlos zu dem Umstand das nach einem 3 Stunden dauernden Abendessen keinerlei Geschirr abgeräumt wurde und wir dies am Tisch stapeln mussten. Zuständig hierfür scheint ein Restaurantmanager zu sein welcher an Arroganz nicht zu überbieten ist. Dieser hat den Abendservice in keinerlei Weise im Griff. Höhepunkt war dann der nächste morgen wo ein kleines Buffet neben dem Frühstücksrestaurant aufgebaut war mit dem Hinweis das man sich nach einer langen Anreise hier gerne erfrischen kann. Nachdem ich mir dort ein kleines Croissant im vorbeigehen genommen hatte wurde ich barsch aus 15 Meter Entfernung von diesem Oberkellner welcher auch für das Chaos beim Abendessen am Vorabend zuständig war auf unfreundlichste Art darauf hingewiesen das das Empfangsbuffet nur für Neuanreisende gedacht ist. Am nächsten Morgen war auf diesem Schild der Zusatz angebracht - nur für neu angereiste Gäste. Ich versuchte an der Rezeption dies vorzutragen aber seitens des dort zuständigen Managements war keinerlei Reaktion vorhanden. In der Summe ein sehr abgewohntes Hotel ohne Charme und Stil wo es auf der Insel mehrere alternativen gibt wo man auch für deutlich weniger Geld nicht abgezockt wird und nicht auf Plastikliegen im 70 er Jahre Styling am Strand liegen muss.
