Paul Marie

We were pleasantly surprised with Paul Marie. The site has been created to mimic a small town with little 'roads' and houses winding round the site and it is smothered in bougainvillea!!. The staff were lovely, food was amazing as far as we are concerned, we certainly gained weight during our stay! The apartment was a little dated maybe but certainly clean and matched our needs perfectly. It is a short wander to the beach and there are some fantastic restaurants along the front. There was a little touring train which we didn't get around to trying because we hired a car from a local hire company within walking distance of the site.

If you want to visit Greece but abstain from any interaction with Greek people or with to have your Greek cultural immersion sanitized through stereotype shows, this is your place. This is practically a seniors home for French nationals which is fine if you are an octogenarian French national looking to sit by the private pool sipping Pernod and waiting for the cafeteria food to be served. There are far better and more interesting places to stay. Unless you’re a French senior looking for a place to escape Greece while in Greece.

Beautiful place, wonderful breakfast, and an all around very pleasant experience. I am very glad that we did not do dinner here as Manos Taverna across the street was incredible and the dinner here was a buffet that didn't come close to the experience we had at Manos'. I certainly recommend staying here, but get dinner and drinks at the Manos Taverna across the street.

Wonderful hotel, very clean and well maintained. Flower beds all around with lovely geraniums and bougainvillae trailing across the balconies. Food was excellent, nice buffet breakfast with a good choice. Dinner also buffet style and featured Greek dishes. Well done to the chef. Paul and Marie are very welcoming and friendly and do their utmost to ensure you have a nice stay. There is a cafe bar at the pool where breakfast is served, then during the day they serve various dishes. Valentino and Tonya were extremely helpful and hard working as were the other staff whose names I don't know. Lot of steps up to some of the apartment s so you would need to check if steps are a problem for you. I was in a detached bungalow/studio with no steps. Overall, a great experience. Analipsi is quaint but some of the shops very expensive.

Very poor welcome drink, (orange juce from carton). The family room 2+2 were very poor, old fashion furniture, decoration. We could feel like in the skansen myseum. Bad smell on the stairway and in the room. Very poor equipment of the room and bathroom. The beds in the kitchen were very small and uncomfortable, and were actualy some kind of a bench rather than proper bed. In the bathroom after shower it was alwayes a lit if water on the floor. All the towels even though were every day replaced were stained. The staff tried hard to pretend to be friendly, dinner starts at 20.30 very limited choice of dishes, for every drink you are charged (including the water). Breakfast was a little better but still nothing special. The WiFi connection was very bad.

A very nice and friendly hotel. Intimate atmosphere among lush greenery. Friendly and helpful staff. The proximity of the sea, the swimming pool and local dishes make you want to go back there. In addition, I recommend the olive oil produced by the family with tradition that runs this hotel.

Spacious and tidy rooms, good buffet breakfast and a 10 minute walk to the main bus stops in and out of Heraklion. Didn't use the pool or bar during our stay but looked good for those that want to relax and have a drink by the pool and a sports bar next door for those interested. The room we stayed was a bit noisy at night as I think we must have been near the washing machine facilities which were on quite late. Overall a decent place outside of the main town!

What a gem this family run hotel is! The very attractive gardens and the pool area are so lovely. Breakfast is taken by the pool and has a delicious spread to choose from. Sunbeds are excellent with quality mats and plentiful. A really relaxing and friendly place. Just a short stroll down to the seafront and sandy beach with a lovely promenade to walk along. There's a little road train that takes you around the nearby villages which is nice. Staff are all extremely kind and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I stayed in room 128 which had a large attractive terrace - but all the rooms are really nice. It was the first time I stayed here - but it will certainly not be the last!

This place exceeded our expectations. The food here was the best food we've ever had at a hotel in our life! For breakfast there was so much to choose from, we honestly go so excited for breakfast everyday. The dinners were unreal, the pastries were amazing.  The staff were so attentive. The rooms are basic but for the little we paid you honestly can't complain. The hotel its self is very beautiful, all draped with flowers. Very peaceful, no noise from outside. The location was perfect, 20mins from airport,  the main bus route to Malia, Agios Nikolaosis, Heraklion is a 10 minute walk up the road, loads of restaurants and supermarkets on the beach front which is a couple minutes down the road. We will definitely be returning to this hotel! If you love cats as much as I do, on the way to the bus stop there is a little "Cat Villa" on the right side of the road in the bushes that someone has made. There was so many stray cats there and I went and fed them everyday! There is also a Cat/Dog sanctuary in Gouves, 5 minute bus ride, we went here and spent time playing with the cats, you can also take the dogs for walks. The bus fares are really cheap, the most we paid is when we went all the way to Agios Nikolaosis in Hersonissos which is a 40min bus ride, think we paid no more than €10 each, then other days we paid less than €5 when we travelled to other areas.
