Für jemanden wie mich, der tagsüber sowieso die ganze Zeit weg ist, ist es ein ausreichend guter Platz. Sehr nah an meiner Tauchbasis, sehr nah an der Altstadt. Abzüge gibts dafür, dass dort niemand englisch spricht und für meine alte Matratze bei der ich die Federn sehr genau spüren konnte. Aber ausreichend sauber, schöne Aussicht. Wer allerdings auf Luxuszimmer und moderne Einrichtung aus ist, ist hier falsch

Meine Frau und ich waren im August / September 2021 für zwei Wochen im Hotel Gordon und haben besonders die zentrale Lage und den günstigen Preis geschätzt. Die Zimmer bieten keinen Luxus und das Haus ist etwas "in die Jahre" gekommen, aber wer lediglich ein sauberes Bett mit den grundsätzlichen Annehmlichkeiten für einen Aktivurlaub mit Tagestouren braucht ist hier gut aufgehoben. Die Zimmer wurden täglich gereinigt und auf Wunsch gibt es auf der Terrasse umringt von Orchideen und anderem Grün ein Frühstück für kleines Geld (3€/Person/Tag). Die Angestellten und die Hotellführung ist aufmerksam und man erhält auf Wunsch Tipps für Ausflüge. Parken ist auf dem Hauseigenen Hof hinter einem abschließbarem Tor ebenfalls für kleines Geld möglich (2€/Tag). Übrigens ist es hier, trotz der Lage einigermaßen Ruhig. Für die Abends bellende Hunde in der Stadt kann das Hotel ja nichts und durch die Lage in einer kleinen Nebenstraße (Sackgasse) hat man nur selten mal ein Auto / Mopet vor dem Fenster. Das WLAN war auch in unserem Zimmer außreichend stark zum schnellen surfen (und für mich zum Bloggen und Fotos hochladen). Da es mehrere Hotspots gibt (zimmerweise gebündelt) sollte das generell so sein. Wir würden das Hotel wieder buchen da es für unsere Anforderungen voll ausgereicht hat.

An absolute gem! Fabulous location in a quiet area of Funchal with a unique family run personal feel. Beautiful historic building, well maintained & immaculately clean with fabulous courtyard garden for breakfast. Thankyou to all who work so hard here to provide this special accommodation. We will be back!

Positively surprised! Very good + Well maintained Heritage Bedroom + located in the middle of Funchal City. The beach promenade is very close and everywhere can be reached on foot. Hotel service friendly & nice. Visit again probably YES.

Staff, breakfast & coffee were awesome.
Beds could use a foam topper - hard and a bit uncomfortable. Rooms really could use a ceiling fan since no ac. But really enjoyed the location and English church evening concerts we could hear from our open window @18:00 each night

Bed was chipboard and rock hard, the pictures and description are not accurate, there is no terrace, our bathroom was down the hall, no tea and coffee making facilities etc. it’s a very charming building but even in a short budget the beds were dire and no air con. Think twice. The location is excellent however. Bit the hill to the hotel is cobbled street that are sharp as is the road.

For the price it was good, nice breakfast,nice big rolls,cheese/ham and jam, a yogurt or banana and tea and coffee, very quiet in dining room while everyone's eating,,would be nice to have some music very low in the background Everywhere was very clean. This room had a shower not a bath which was nice. Would be nice to have a picture maybe in the room and some nice colourful pictures about to brighten the place up as it as a bit dark (lovely restaurant called Trigal just round the corner ) It was a nice stay and right near the centre!

Location, location, location! Down a small side street close to a pedestrian main street full of bars and restaurants. Big supermarket just round the corner for those essentials like bottles of water and possibly wine (mainly wine, to be fair). The hotel is very traditional with hardwood floors to die for that would be tens of thousands of euros to replace. The team running the operation are charming, and so very helpful. Breakfast was relaxed, served to you and always very fresh, and the hotel staff were always quick to offer you more food and coffee during your meal. Walled rear garden was available for breakfast too. We used the garden one afternoon to socialise over a bottle and catch up on our day. Found out at that point they have a gated car park, we didn't need it, you might. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Enjoyed every minute

This is a quaint, traditional hotel, in a perfect location for exploring Funchal. The rooms are basic but adequate, and extremely clean. The breakfast was lovely, rolls with ham and cheese, jam, yogurt and as much coffee as we wanted. Although we ate in the dining room, there was also a small outside patio area where we could have eaten if we wanted to. The owner is extremely accommodating and went out of her way to ensure that we had a fantastic stay. If you are looking for a centrally located budget hotel, then this is ideal.
