Hotel República Boutique Hotel

We highly recommend Hotel Republica. It definitely is a five star hotel. Recently 4 of us stayed in 3 rooms for 2 nights. Republica is situated on the main square in the center of old town almost next to the Church of Sao Joao Babtista. As you enter the hotel, the staff at reception are extremely professional and very friendly. After checking us in she spent quite a bit of time explaining what is in the area and particular sites that we should see. The front desk staff and the Restaurant staff are exceptionally proficient and friendly. In the restaurant, they were very knowledgeable about wines and helped us make a great selection for dinner that night. The food in the restaurant from escargot to pasta and steaks, are very good and so is the breakfast buffet that includes scrambled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, cheeses, meats, pastries, and fruit. If that is not enough you can get made to order poached eggs, fried eggs, etc. again, the staff rotates between the restaurant and the front desk and are all extremely friendly and helpful. All of our rooms were incredibly neat and clean and had a very nice pink marble bathroom with a walk-in glass rain shower. The beds were firm and extremely comfortable. Made service in the mornings freshen the room like you were never there. We had a room overlooking the square which was lovely if you can request it, I suggest it. Be sure to go next-door and see Carlos at Mesa dos Templarios, you can sit outside in the square under the umbrellas, and enjoy a delicious fish soup or his flaming sausages tableside. In the evenings, definitely stop in there for the best Negroni’s made in Tomar. A special thanks to Carlos, who made us feel so welcome in town. It happened to be the anniversary celebration of the founding of the town with a parade and festivities and he made sure the four of us were included in these. It was like having family in Tomar. He introduced us to real Templars and made sure we were well taken care of at other restaurants in town. For a fun evening we recommend Taverna Antiqua.

The hotel is right on the main square. I had a room facing the square and it was marvelous day and night. Room was very comfortable and fairly large. Service is very well meaning. At this time the restaurant and bar seem very much up in the air. The excellent Praça Seafood restaurant has been replaced by, I am not sure what. They were out of most of the entrees and the bar seems closed. They did however bring me a gin and tonic from the pizzeria next door. Odd.

With a great location in the center of Tomar, quite recent, clean and overall pleasant. Staff friendly, great breakfast . But it s not a 5 star accommodation as announced. In brief: -nobody at the reception on our arrival - understaffed: we saw some challenging situations for the team to do several roles at the same time (ex: reception in the breakfast room and also to be on the main reception/front desk.) - room preparation: toilet paper out (only the reserve was available below the counter), hand/body lotion out, water bottle reposition was not made for the second night, So if you expect a small hotel , more friendly and with honest simple service, you will not be disappointed ,

Wonderful stay at Hotel Republica. Location, staff, and restaurant are all top rate. Recommend Hotel Republica highly. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Hotel staff very accommodating. Jose and Anderson in the restaurant were terrific!! Thanks so much.

This was my favorite hotel on our 3 week trip. A huge special thank you to Matheus that actually got in our car and got us to the parking garage that was near the hotel. He was an absolute joy and we absolutely adored him! A huge thank you to Bruno that helped us get to a great Italian restaurant for the best pizza in Tomar! The hotel was very upscale and simply the best hotel of our entire 3 week trip. The bed was really comfortable, the room was really large and very elegant and the air conditioning worked like a champ! Perfect location in the heart of Tomar!! We absolutely loved this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional high end beautiful hotel! A+++++ all the way around!

10 stars out of 5 What a find, landed in Lisbon, drove to Santa Cruz, had lunch and looked on map for somewhere to head to explore, dine and sleep for the evening Fell on this hotel by chance, pictures looked lovely and the reviews were really good Absolutely did not disappoint, stunning building, amazing location, beautiful interiors, exceptional staff, honestly could not pick a single fault in our stay Breakfast was fantastic, lots of self service continental selection, I opted for the cheese and vegetable omelette and I have to say it was up there with the nicest omelettes I have ever consumed If you find yourself in the area, or indeed willing to travel to visit, I promise that you’ll throughly enjoy your stay at the Hotel República in Tomar
