This is a tricky one. I've read some of the recent reviews and agree with most of them. First time in our touring caravan on Hilltop. Non electric grass pitch as we booked late in season. Initially disappointed but turned out to be a godsend. We were a bit removed from the main site which was NOISY. I'm not just talking family groups chatting and catching up, but serious dance parties going on all day and most of the night. Fun to experience from a distance but the review, and our holiday, would have been very different if we'd have been pitched next to such group with our 5 year old. Can't fault the entertainment for the kids. Food, we only tried the Courtyard Takeaway. Pretty average beige food cooked OK for a good price. Won't win any prizes but filled a gap. Exception to that was the fresh battered haddock which was fab. Supermarket big but I'm not sure I'd call it "well stocked" unless you're looking for vapes or pool/outdoor games tat. Very light on fresh fruit and veg, I couldn't find any of the fresh baked bread and no meat etc to put a bbq together with. Booking system for the pool easy. We didn't use the facilities as we have what we need in the caravan, but I was really pleased. The toilets looked, and smelled filthy. The plots are tiny in some areas and people are being jammed in on top of each other. Even with a 4 berth caravan, a car and a 3mx 3m gazebo (no awning), that was all we had room for. And that was with the gazebo pitched behind the car! Some of the plots seemed even smaller and at funny angles. God knows how I'd have got the caravan in those. Not only e-scooters and e-bikes/e-motor bikes racing around the park but drivers all in a tearing hurry meant I didn't feel safe letting my 5 year old stray passed the end of the tow hitch of the caravan as that is where our pitch ended and people were screaming passed without any thought to children it seemed. Would I come back? Honestly I don't know. My 5 year old has had a ball - which is gold, but....... I have been thankful we got off quite lightly with the noise and the pitch. Not sure I'd be prepared to risk it again, just in case. I think I met the "rude" bloke referred to in other reviews. Yes, he was! But to be honest, given he's basically dealing with what appears to be some kind of cross between a club 18-30s and a boomers weekend retreat, all set in the Essex countryside...I'm not sure I blame him, although I was only knocking on the "staff only" door at the launderette as I hadn't realised you had to walk three quarters of the way through the launderette and find the door marked "knock here for assistance!" But there you go! Maybe he'd had a bad day!
