Male at check in could not have been more miserable, uninviting and hated life more if he tried. After grunting his way through the booking and sliding a piece of paper to sign and then sliding the key to me I wasnt quite sure if we had finished the transaction as there was no guidance from himself. I said are we all done and as he grunted at me I assumed we were there so I left to find the room. The room was on the ground floor. Bathroom was grotty and the flush just poured out water for half an hour a time every time it was used. Bed was small. Room was dated. Phone was dirty and covered in whatever finger juice had congealed over many years. The carpet was threadbare. The room was an embarrassment to be fair. Went into the bar to get food. Asked for the tablet, the member of staff was busy swearing with the ”regulars” and I felt as though I was causing her problems but she obliged. Ordered a Magners via the tablet, an Astril was dumped on the bar. I left it as that wasnt my order, then was barked at by another woman that was my drink ”but she was too busy to bring it over”, granted there were 2 people at the bar at the time. I said I didnt order that, she told me I had, I assured her I hadnt, then lo and behold they apparently had no Magners so I took the Astril for ease. The food was a pizza which in reality was a burnt base with some mush chucked on. Horrible. Back to the room, good sleep. Breakfast in the morning. No knives, no beans. 2 members of staff having a yap, interrupted them and got what was needed, they went back to yapping. Check out the food and everything was sorted by the company. The receptionist told me it wasn't. I asked her to check as I knew it was, she said I have but I will check again. She told me no the company dont cover it. I assured her they do and this time showed her the booking. She called someone else over who told her to bill the company if thats what i wanted. I left and then they proceeded to moan about me not accepting that the booking was not including food so I had to return and have more of the same conversation. As a diamond elite member this hotel is an embarrassment to the brand. The staff are rude. The rooms are inadequate and dated and the check in and check out process is shambolic at best. Need to do better. Wont be staying there again.

Die Zimmer werden täglich gereinigt. Die Lage ist ruhig in der Nacht und die Gärten sind abgeschaltet. Ich habe gut geschlafen. Die Bar ist gut gelagert und es gibt viele Zimmer. Das Frühstücksbuffet, hat Obst, Porridge, unzählige Getreide, Toast, Obstkompott, Yoghurt, Muffins, Croissants, Hot Bacon, Beeren, Sausages und geschrotet Eier. Das Hot Food war gut zubereitet. Es gibt eine Reihe von Tee, Kaffee und Obstsaft. Es gibt viele Sitzplätze und die Tische sind im ganzen geschlossen und sanitiert. Es gibt eine große, Unterkunfts- und vernünftige Pub neben der Tür mit einem guten Menü für Abendessen. In allem würde ich dieses Hotel empfehlen.

We visit the Walnut Tree 7 or 8 times a year and receive a consistently high level of service and friendly welcome. We normally try to get down early enough on a Friday to be able to eat in the restaurant as the food is excellent. The bar serves a local ale, normally Otter, as well as a good range of gins, cocktails and the usual bar offerings. The bar and restaurant are open to non residents so if you're visiting friends/family in the area, they can join you for a meal of a drink. The rooms we have stayed in have been a good size, well equipped, with comfy beds and spotlessly clean. Daniel and the team do a great job - thank you!

We made a last-minute booking and the hotel were so great in accommodating us. The reception was easy to find and we were greeted warmly by Erin. We had to make another booking the same night to accommodate another family-member and Erin was a great sport in giving us adjoining rooms and relocating us upstairs, including helping with all our suitcases and bags. The level of service here is akin only to what I've experienced in the Caribbean. A true care and warmth with a willingness to go above and beyond unasked. For this I give them an A+. The premise of community support and involvement is admirable and training up of youthful staff, grooming them in truly 5-star service standards is definitely welcomed! Other hotels would do to learn from them! In the morning of our departure, our things were whisked downstairs, again with a genuine joy in helping. We didn't get everyone's names, but our gratitude to Erin, Maisie, Alex and so many more who made difficult personal time for us into a comfortable, relaxing one. Loved the rotation of cookies daily and replenishment of assorted teas. My only advice would be for them to place non-skid bath mats in the shower trays and to install handrails, but otherwise, there is little to be faulted. We look forward to returning in the future!

Let me start off by stating that Meg and her team are fantastic. I stay here quite regularly for work. The staff are friendly and will go the extra mile to make your stay more welcoming . It has a kitchen where you can cater for yourself always clean and tidy The rooms are well cleaned by housekeeping she does an amazing job 100% worth the value for the money for me this is a 5* review wouldn't stay anywhere else when I come to Taunton

Ich reservierte nur eine Nacht ein Deluxe Doppelzimmer. Wir waren sehr glücklich mit unserem Zimmer, das geräumig, sauber und gut ausgestattet war. Das Bett war sehr komfortabel wie die Kissen. Die Gäste waren warm und freundlich. Es gibt Parkplätze im Hotel, aber das wird von NCP betrieben und kostet nur unter 10 £ für einen 24-Stunden-Aufenthalt. Zahlung ist über eine APP, so empfehle ich, dass Sie es auf Ihrem Telefon installieren, bevor Sie ankommen. Es gibt keine Möglichkeit, mit Bar oder Karte bei der Maschine zu bezahlen. Das Hotel selbst ist sehr charmant, mit einzeln eingerichteten Schlafzimmern und einer Reihe von Zeit- und Möbeln in den öffentlichen Zimmern. Wir trafen meinen Sohn zum Abendessen in einem nahe gelegenen Restaurant zum Abendessen, so dass wir nicht zu dem Abendessen kommen konnten und wir aus dem Frühstück gewählt haben, da wir einen frühen Mittagessen arrangiert hatten. We stayed for two nights in room no.1. the hotel was easy to find but be careful of the traffic as you enter the narrow side entrance. The private car park is £5/night...I don't like having to pay when I am a guest but maybe it keeps prices down. Large cars beware of the exit...very tight and evidence of many scrapes. Speak to Reception who may have an alternative exit. But the welcome was warm and friendly, our room clean and bright with the usual facilities. The staff really did treat all the guests we saw in a friendly and cheerful manner. We had dinner and the food, service and wine were very good. Breakfast was also of a high standard. Situated close to the town centre the hotel is ideally placed and priced. We would definitely stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Wir hatten so ein warmes Willkommen von Peter und Candi für unseren Aufenthalt als Gruppe von 18, um in den Hügeln von Quantock zu gehen, um einen 60. Geburtstag zu feiern. Wir konnten keinen besseren Aufenthaltsort wählen. Der Garten, der am Rücken des Hotels versteckt ist erstaunlich, mit Blumen und Rosenblättern - der perfekte Ort für Mittagessen oder ein Abendessen vor dem Abendessen. (Die Kalifornien Salat ist wunderschön!) Frühstück ist großartig - ein super-Buffet und kocht Frühstück gekocht, um zu bestellen und aus dem lokalen Bereich. Eine seltene Sache in einem Hotel heute. Peter und Candi sorgten dafür, dass wir schön aufpassen, nichts war zu viel Problem, ein freundliches und sehr effizientes Team. Danke. Besondere Erwähnung an Jen, der vor unserem Aufenthalt unser Kontaktpunkt war und sicherte, dass alles in Ordnung war, als unsere große Gruppe auftauchte, zu bleiben und im Hotel zu essen. Sie ging wirklich die zusätzlichen Meile, um sicherzustellen, dass alles für unsere Ankunft vorhanden war und schaute uns während unseres Aufenthalts schön an. Ein fabulöses Wochenende und ein großer, freundlicher Ort, mit kochenem Essen zu Hause zu bleiben.
