Mònica Hotel

The hotel has a lovely, charming and calming feeling about it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The reception and bar area is spacious and relaxing. Pool area is beautiful with different areas to sunbathe. Breakfast - plenty of choice. Croissants are yummy! Good choice of breads, fruit, yoghurts, cakes and hot breakfast. You can have a fresh omelette made, eggs, pancakes if you like. Coffee machine makes a nice cup. Two slight criticisms....the toast machines are very slow, which is common in hotels abroad, and the bacon is not like you get in England! Which is to be expected and it is not a problem as there are so many other choices. There were a lot of different nationalities in the hotel, we were in the minority, which we liked! The Rooms - Bottles of water left on the first day which I thought was a nice touch. We booked a garden room which overlooks the pool, they are very modern and stylish. Bathrooms have walk in spacious shower. Balcony good size, air-conditioning is excellent and gets cool straight away. Mbaye leads the team at breakfast and is great, friendly and funny! and very efficient. Santos works like superman 🦸‍♂️ in the bar! All the staff made our stay special and we are planning to return soon. We loved it ❤️ Thank you

The hotel looks in and outside very classy but then I was given room 209. The room was good and then i decided to go onto the balcony this is when it all went wrong. The view from the balcony was horrendous straight infront of me was the back of 2 apartments with balcony . Their balconies where a dumping ground for the tenants there. It had fridges freezers dirty cloths hanging on line animal cage and other bric bac. I would not have minded if I overlooked a street or shops but not eyesores. When you read on any room in the hotel that says it has a balcony then you at least expect a view , the hotel should say view from balcony not pleasant. Also the time we were there the tv never had any english channels or subtitles I appreciate you don't go on holiday to watch TV but I like to see a bit of news and weather. The hotel should put on thier website about the tv. I spoke to reception they said there was a notice stating no English channels due being new provideders and waiting for engineer , but they did not seem bothered. The breakfast was basic the same each day really not English breakfast as I know it. Dinner was very good. I don't think this hotel is a 4 more of a 3 star.

My husband and I arrived at the Monica on September 20th at 7pm.The receptionist greeted us with a smile ,I apologise as I have mislaid her name .We spoke on several occasions and she was always extremely helpful. In the evening we were greeted in the restaurant by the owner,she is a fantastic lady . I would like to give a shout out to the waiting staff ,who are all exceptionally friendly ,Mbaye,Antonio,Delores,Fatouma,not forgetting Aida,who helped me with my limited Spanish pronunciation. The food is very good from breakfast to evening meal.Always something for everyone. Rooms are kept extremely clean and beds very comfortable. I shall also mention Roger the young man who looks after the maintenance of the hotel.He was very helpful and polite . That just leaves me to Santos who runs the bar area .Always happy to oblige. The beach is five minutes from the hotel also the shops ,bars and restaurants.It is simply one of our favourite places . Thank you to everyone for making our stay so pleasant after a difficult year .

My friend & I enjoyed our week at the Monica Hotel very much. Our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. Small balcony but lovely view over the pool and pretty garden. We thought the food selection & quality was exceptional for a small hotel - couldn't fault it, spoilt for choice every time! Great lunch time bar menu too, very good value. Santos was a great character - running the bar from 4pm. All the staff were super and really seemed to appreciate my limited spanish! The hotel location was great, literally 1 minute from the sea front! We were blessed with clear blue skies & sunshine every day and enjoyed strolling along the long promenades & browsing the many shops. We visited Park Sama on the land train, went to the old town of Cambrils & had a day in Tarragona which was well worth seeing. We had a lovely holiday & would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

The hotel interior was very nice. The external appearance was not so great needs some attention. The pool was smaller than expected but always sunbeds available. The food was excellent, we were half board and always lots of choice. Some evening entertainment which were very good singers. Our room was a superior with solarium, room was adequate size, comformy beds, balcony very small but roof terrace was excellent. No tea, coffee, water or kettle which for a superior was disappointing. The staff were polite and friendly and the barman was lovely. The hotel is very spainish orintated and only one other english couple were there the same time as us, but it do not affect our stay at all The area is lovely with plenty of restuarants, shops and nice harbour.

We had a room on the first floor with balcony and pool view. Well, what is great about the hotel is location, breakfast and stuff. The hotel is situated in few minuets from the beach, all the restaurants and shops. Breakfast is truly good and had varied choice of tasty food starting with different tortillas, sausages, cheese and ending with bakery and fresh fruits!! Stuff is very helpful and nice!! As for the rest, the main problem is an absence of soundproofing!! You hear each closed door, each splash in the bathroom above, each cough in neighbor room!! Moreover, at 7.45-7.50 am monotonous music starts playing in the garden. Absolutely no chances to sleep well!! As for the room, it’s just basic. Nothing except quite loud air-conditioning, TV and hair-dryer. Too basic for 4-stars hotel. Floor on the balcony is really strange and uncomfortable. So, although Camblirs is really nice place and our staying was generally OK, we were disappointed by conditions of the room.
