Hôtel la Fontaine Caen Centre

Two-floor hotel without an elevator, a bit difficult to climb with luggage (so not all that good for older people). The staff was very good, breakfast was acceptable, not a lot of variety. The room was very comfortable. No AC though - there was a heater. The bathroom was ok, room was very tidy, they cleaned every day, no complaints there. There is a safety box. The hotel is in the city centre, a McDonalds 2 blocks away and a supermarket a couple of blocks away as well. Didn't see any taxis close by, but the receptionist will call for you. The best part of the hotel was that they have a tour guide in it - had the best private tours in the Normandy beaches (had a 3-day private trip). Would definitely recommend!

Our family of four stayed in a family room for one night. The owners provided a very warm welcome and were very friendly and helpful throughout our visit (including suggesting places to eat dinner, as well as places to visit after we had left Caen). The bedroom was spacious and clean. The shower was great (very good pressure!). Delicious breakfast including fresh kiwifruit! This hotel was great value and we would definitely recommend.

Great family-run hotel in the middle of Caen. Right next to the shops and bars and decent parking only 100 yards away. Friendly manager and nice breakfast (fresh baguettes, jam, pastries etc). Would recommend.

Matthieu welcomed us with delight and our entire stay was comfortable. Room was updated, clean and comfortable for our family. Great neighborhood, ate a delicious dinner at Matthieu’s recommendation. There is a parking deck across the street and the train station is 5 mins by car. What could have been a forgettable night our our vacation, as we were passing through to Paris the next day, turned into a highlight. We felt the comforts of home because of the hospitality. Merci!

Excellent location but didn’t realise about the stairs. Good exercise and worth it for a one night stop on way back to ferry. Spacious room with everything in order. Helpful owner and very good breakfast.

We did not realise that reception was up two flights of stairs and my husband has limited mobility. However, we asked for a room on the first floor beforehand and our room was adjacent to reception, so they did their best, and we were helped with our luggage once I told reception we had arrived. Our room was small and basic, but VERY CLEAN and had everything we needed for an overnight stay prior to catching ferry to England. Though we didn’t take breakfast, it was served next to reception in a small seating area with buffet style self-service. A pleasant stay all in all.
