We feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to stay at Shangu. Not only is the guesthouse conveniently located near the monasterybut the hosting family also taught us so much about ******* culture. They generously shared their time, traditions, and delicious cuisine—things we would never have experienced anywhere else. They were always kind and helpful whenever we needed anything. And all the food we ate (a lot) was genuinely local, delicious and had the warmth of homemade food. Furthermore, the guesthouse itself was absolutely lovely. The common spaces were very tasteful and inviting, and the rooms were clean, well-designed and beautifully decorated. We had a wonderful sleep, and no problems whatsoever. We will never forget these few days at Shangu guesthouse, and our lovely moments with its family. This stay will remain one of the most meaningful memories of our trip to China.

We absolutely loved our stay at 山古民宿 Shangu Homestay. The room was spacious, well presented in ******* style, and kept wonderfully warm with underfloor heating. The window-side lounge area was so cozy that we didn’t want to leave after three nights. Dinner was a highlight—the ******* hotpot was delicious, with fresh yak meat, vegetables, and noodles. Breakfast included fruit, ******* butter tea, and tsampa, giving us a real taste of local traditions. The host was incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about ******* culture, nomadic life, and even how to make incense. During our stay, it snowed heavily, and our children had a fantastic time playing in the snow with the host. It was not just accommodation, but a cultural journey filled with warmth and unforgettable memories. Die Lage des Nirvana Resorts ist so atemberaubend, inmitten wunderschöner Wiesen und umgeben von Bergen, es war wirklich atemberaubend. Das Zelt war riesig und das Bett bequem – einige Dinge sind einfach, wie Toilette und Dusche außerhalb des Geländes, aber das wissen Sie schon. Es war großartig, Wandhikhar und alle seine Mitarbeiter kennenzulernen und mit ihnen zu sprechen, die sehr nett und hilfsbereit waren.

This is an absolutely beautiful handmade property. The woodwork in it is just exceptional. What really makes this place special however are the owners who are so sweet, so helpful, and so accommodating. They helped us with absolutely everything we asked, and we’re sweet throughout.

I would stay here for a week if I had enough time. This is a very special place with peaceful surroundings and a great team of people to make your stay special. The environment is perfect for relaxing and just soaking up the atmosphere. You can choose between a regular cabin or a transparent camping pod for a more immersive experience. Just note that you are in the middle of nature so you have to embrace everything that comes with that. The best part I would say are the people who work here, in particular the owner Liu Jing and his dog Oreo, who made me feel so at home as a solo traveller and was accommodating of everything. From making traditional ******* breakfast to sharing stories by the campfire an having drinks late into the night, I will never forget this experience. If you are reading this, I would not hesitate to book.

Good location, although it's a small town so everything is fairly close anyway. Clean room, good amenities inside, but no air conditioning made for quite a warm couple of nights. Decent all round.

Das Zimmer umgibt die Verteilung des Mittelhauses und ist sauber und sauber. The dorm was very clean and equipped with a kettle, which was nice. I was the only guest during my stay. As mentioned in the other reviews, the dorm is located in the basement and you have to walk a bit to reach the toilet. The „shower“ is located across the front desk. It’s a small room where the hotel is storing their cleaning equipment, so showering there is a quite dirty and unpleasant experience. As there are so many dorms in the basement (I would guess 50+ beds), I wonder how they would handle the situation if the hotel is fully booked. Overall I would recommend staying there for one night, if you are not picky.
