Monverde - Wine Experience Hotel - by Unlock Hotels Bewertungen

I spent 1 over-priced night at the Hotel Monverde in late April, finding some nice elements, but also some experiences unworthy of the expense. My room was comfortable and the hotel staff were generally very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my wine tasting and I also enjoyed a massage. The breakfast buffet included a nice array of options. My dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was tasty, but the service was utterly unacceptable.* The property is lovely; I wish I could recommend it, but my experience at the restaurant tainted my stay. I would expect better treatment, even if this hotel and its restaurant hadn’t been a costly splurge for me. *Once seated and given a menu, I made my decisions and waited for my server. After what seemed like quite a while, I took note of the time. The waiter had not been busy with other tables – he and two other men were at the reception desk, talking, laughing, and arguing within clear view of my table. I began trying to signal for the waiter when 10 minutes had passed since the already delayed point when I had marked the time. And it was still some time, during which I signaled for attention with increasing (and admittedly, increasingly rude) vigor, before my waiter came to take my order. Once the server did come, he was not particularly friendly or helpful, though I’m sure he would say the same of me at that point. Service for the remainder of the meal remained frankly disconcerting. One woman re-arranged everything on my table, placing things where they were not convenient for me, persisting in her effort even as I returned the items to the places that worked for me. My main course was served from just behind my right ear, with no warning – simply appearing inches from my face as the waiter moved it to the table. I actually smelled the food before seeing it, and I jerked away hard enough to feel an uncomfortable strain in my neck afterwards. Adding insult to injury, I was billed for more expensive wines than the ones I had been served. (They corrected the bill for the discrepancy I could prove.) Upon leaving the restaurant, I stopped at the reception desk to report my dissatisfaction; the response was a shrug. Maybe the problem was that I don’t speak Portuguese; in the face of disinterest, I did not delineate the difficulties. I discussed my experience somewhat more fully with a more sympathetic staff member as I checked out, but nothing came of that discussion.
