All Iron Hostel

They have BEDBUGS. The hygiene is extremely below par. They only provide a mattress cover and a single sheet, no pillow case. They do NOT clean the beds, they wash the sheet, and then recycle the duvet by just putting it on a different bed (no cleaning at all). The beds are not cleaned at all. The showers were only cleaned once when I was there (4days), even though all dorms were full. Nothing of the dorm was actually cleaned, only vacuumed (at 9 in the morning with a full dorm)

Really dirty, sheets were stained, no locks on doors or rooms anyone could wander in. A lot older than other hostels definitely avg age was 50+ people in kitchen talking loudly. Bathrooms were clean and spacious

The only suggestion I would give it is to leave the kitchen open. They close the kitchen with a lock at 23:00 and if you arrive late after an excursion, you can not eat or warm anything up because the microwave is inside the kitchen. I would suggest ONLY locking the food that the hostel offer guests but the fridge and microwave shouldn't be locked. I had to leave the food I had bought for my way to the airport because I put it in the fridge and it turned up to be that the kitchen did not open till 8:00 am

Other than the place being clean and cheap (though not cheap enough for the quality), not a place I recommend. First, when I came to check in, the person at the desk was showing someone around, saw me, and ignored. No “just a minute” or “I’ll be with you in a sec”. Small, but usually you’re at least acknowledged. The bed and sleep were fine but have headphones if you’re a light sleeper. The shower is a timed shower. So, you have to press the button to keep it on which doesn’t allow it to warm up. (Just hold it down for awhile and you’ll get some lukewarm water). People were allowed to sleep on the sofas in the public space. The breakfast didn’t open til about 810 (the kitchen stays locked from 1045p until then). I was rudely told to wait when I just wanted some hot water for my personally brought coffee. A few things that occurred which aren’t directly the hostel’s fault but just gives some insight: a guy taking a number two with door wide open, a guy washing his feet in the sink where you brush your teeth, a couple in the male shower together in the morning, a guy walking around in his underwear back and forth in the public areas, music on in main areas all day. Needless to say, I ended my stay early.

Nice hostel, good value for money, with plenty of hot showers and good cooking facilities. Next to supermarket but located up from Bilbao old town so a bit of a hike up the hill. Only 500m from Bilbao metro. Would stay here again if travelling through Bilbao

We just needed a place for one night and that was the cheapest option in Bilbao at that time, plus it had breakfast included and good reviews on Booking. I was too optimistic with the location, which is not their fault but mine :) It's located a bit outside of the centre, still walkable distance (maybe like 20min) and it did offer a nice view, especially at sunset. They did say they have a terrace but it is literally a small space with a table and a few stools in front of the entrance. The girl at the reception was really nice, she showed and explained us everything and made sure we were comfortable in the room. We slept in a 10-bed room, so I understand that there's no privacy really but I did find the layout of the beds quite smart actually and it did give more privacy than in other hostels I've stayed in. The mattress was not very comfortable but after having slept in a tent the nights before, it was ok. They have big lockers (bring your own lock or rent one from the reception) with a plug inside. Everything was very clean. They had a nice "living room" where you could sit and read or play chess but no food/drinks allowed in that area. The kitchen was big but only had 2 (portable) stovetops which I found way too few for so many people. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long to cook but I imagine if the hostel is full and everyone wants to cook, there will be a waiting line. The breakfast they offer is basic - cereals, toast, coffee, milk, sweets, jam - but I thought it was ok. Fruits would have been good and milk for vegans as they only had cow milk but 3 different kinds. All in all, I would come here again, nice staff, very clean and quite.

Horrible experiencia. No sabría ni por dónde empezar. La primera noche me desperté con UN MONTÓN DE PICORES en el cuerpo y granos de picadas. Hablé con el chico que había en recepción, explicándole amablemente que quizás tenían chinches y su única solución fue cambiarme las sábanas. LO TÉTRICO EMPIEZA AHORA que ese mismo día al volver por la noche de dar una vuelta uno de los trabajadores (supuestamente el VIGILANTE) me estaba esperando con LAS LUCES APAGADAS y empezó a echarme en cara la queja que yo había puesto, se me encaró y me increpó hasta que me metí en la habitación (todo a oscuras). Salí de la habitación con un amigo porqué no quería ir sola al baño y nos lo encontramos en el pasillo donde SIGUIÓ PERSIGUIÉNDONOS e increpando nos a oscuras y no dejó (literalmente) que mi amigo me acompañara al baño. Se esperó que yo saliera y ahí empezó de nuevo a increparme ya más VIOLENTAMENTE, cosa que yo ya le contesté y al discutir se me encaró y empezó a decirnos que el hacia boxeo y que había trabajado de segurata, que cuidado con él que no iba a poder poner una queja porqué todo pasaba por él. Nos metimos en la habitación mientras el nos seguía increpando detrás y casi no dormimos pensando que entraría. A la mañana siguiente hablé con una chica que había en recepción para poner una reclamación y explicarle todo y él se quedó detrás escuchando todo lo que hablábamos y pasó por detrás mío y me empujó. La chica se negó a darme la hoja de reclamaciones diciendo que no tenían (cosa que es ilegal) y básicamente que vale, que si quería que escribiera en una hoja lo que había pasado y ella se lo daría al jefe (que supuestamente no estaba). Literalmente el hotel del terror. Tienen a un trabajador VIOLENTO Y AGRESIVO, lo saben y no hacen nada.

UN HORROR DE HOSTAL Hicimos parada en este hostal una amiga y yo y fue horrible. La primera noche que pasamos mi amiga se despertó con todo el CUERPO LLENO DE PICADAS y lo comentó educadamente en recepción para que lo tuvieran en cuenta por si podía ser sarna o chinches... En recepción la única respuesta que le dieron fue que le cambian las sábanas, mi amiga aceptó. Esa misma noche salimos por Bilbao y llegamos a las 2 de la mañana al hostal y cuando estamos entrando nos estaba esperando el VIGILANTE a oscuras dentro. NOS INCREPÓ y le dijo a mi amiga que por qué le había dicho lo de las picadas a su compañero, que en ese hostal no había bichos. Mi amiga le intentó explicar por activa y por pasiva que ella se levantó con picadas de esa cama y que lo único que hizo fue dar un aviso por precaución. El chico insistió y empezó a hablar de malas maneras, no nos dejaba irnos e incluso SE LE ENCARÓ a mí amiga. La situación nos pareció SURREALISTA. Fui a acompañar al lavabo a mi amiga porque le daba MIEDO ir sola con el vigilante rondando por ahí después de lo que había pasado, y cuando iba a entrar al baño con ella el vigilante, que nos estaba persiguiendo, no me dejó y nos volvió a increpar con lo mismo en el pasillo de los baños, incluso me llegó a decir "hago boxeo" para violentar aún más la situación. En fin, esa noche pasamos miedo por si entraba en nuestra habitación y nos decía o hacía algo. Ya se ve que ese chico no está nada bien. Por lo demás, lavabos sucios y desayuno cutre y pobre. Además por la mañana se escuchan todos los ruidos, ponen música fuerte y entran en tu habitación sin avisar. No volvería jamás....
