L'Armoric Hôtel - RÉNOVÉ

Since the long-time owners sold up in February 2024, this hotel has apparently been transformed into a French version of Fawlty Towers - but without the entertainment value of Basil and Manuel. Seems to operate with a maximum of 2 staff. I would not recommend it.

Just returned home after a very pleasant week at the Armoric Hotel and I would like to thank all the people who work there for their friendly welcome. A special mention of course for Irene's delicious cooking! My favourite dish was the Dinde avec Sauce Aigre Douce. The choice of dishes is amazing and dinner, like breakfast, is very good value. The position of the hotel is one of its major attributes, everything is within walking distance and walking around Benodet is a pleasure in itself. The atmosphere is that of a traditional seaside hotel, where the owners seem genuinely concerned that you enjoy your holiday and who work very hard. There is always somebody available to deal with queries, make you a drink and offer advice. I found the bed very comfortable and particularly liked the 2 chairs around the desk, not sure if they are baroque or empire style. The chairs on the small terrace were comfortable as well. My room gave onto the garden and it was wonderful, coming from a large city to be able to listen to the birds singing and sometimes nothing at all. The music was exactly to my taste in the restaurant, such a change from the usual muzak which aspires to provide ambiance but does completely the reverse.

Family run hotel with car park, about 10 minutes’ walk to the beach. Room was a decent size and clean, comfy bed, decor a bit 1980s, large bathroom. Excellent buffet breakfast with a wide choice. Evening meal was good, 3 courses for 25 Euro - there are very few restaurants in the town given how popular it is. I strongly recommend the OVNI restaurant on the road to Fouesnant if you don’t mind driving or taking a taxi. Hotel staff all friendly too. The road can be noisy so you may wish to ask for a room at the back or in the annexe overlooking the garden. Would happily stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a family of 4 en route to South France. Wish we’d had longer!!! The hotel owners and staff were amazing, friendly, accommodating and just so welcoming. We’d never been to Benodet before but we will certainly be returning for longer next time. It was stunning!!

We stayed at L'Armoric for a week and had a lovely time. Everyone, from the first reception team on Sunday to the owners and the breakfast servers and cleaning staff looked after us wonderfully. We had booked a slightly larger room with a fridge, a sofa and coffee table which was ideal for relaxing after a day out exploring the beaches and coast paths in the area. The breakfast buffet was laden with both savoury and sweet food choices and a variety of hot and cold drinks. All our inquiries about things to do etc were answered patiently and with good humour. If you look for excellent, efficient service with a personal, family-feel touch this hotel is for you.

A warm welcome from Michel and Irene, and a friendly family run hotel made sure we had a great holiday. The room was lovely and bed very comfortable - we slept so well! Everything was clean, the pool was warm and the beer from the bar cold - what more could you want? Breakfast had a good variety, and the chef kindly accommodated my food allergies when we had an evening meal (which was yummy!). Parking undercover for the motorbike was a welcome bonus. Overall a great stay and we'd happily go again. Thank you Michel and Irene - wishing you a successful season.
