Super 8 by Wyndham Rice Lake

First impression, the parking lot was filthy. Men were peeing in the woods behind hotel. Grills lined up along edge of lot. Inside hotel it was very warm, room had mold on curtains, next room a.c. didn't work,next room tv wasn't working. Breakfast was a joke and the furniture in breakfast area was broken down or ripped. We were offered a discount since we couldn't cancel but card was charged full price $156.

Reserved this property well in advance so was able to get acceptable pricing. Was pleasantly surprised with the room. There were two queen size beds with three pillows each. 😃 Room was in a clean condition and shower was good. There was a breakfast bar at this property and it was ok. Not gourmet but okay. Might have given another star but was on the first floor and there was a noise issue. Being located on the second floor would have been better. Motels are pricey in Rice lake and surrounding areas so booking in advance is the way to go.

They bait and switch you on price. All travel hotel sites take you through the booking process online like you are getting the $74 rate but I, like who succumbed to not reading all my emails, did not notice the higher total. Nothing was said at check in because the teenager not wearing anything resembling an employee, I didn't recognize whom could assist me at fist. And she barely spoke english. At check out we were shocked at how high our bill was! $74 a night turned into $94 + taxes and $104 + taxes. They kept telling me that was the price and there was nothing they could do about it because all those prices are coming from other private companies that have nothing to do with them and I should've booked on their website. I tried but you only could book for their location through a third-party. We went back and forth and he barely spoke english and said I had to wait 20 minutes until the girl he called her gets back from an errand so she can talk to me. At that point I was frustrated and left. The building is falling apart as is the parking lot. The maintenance man and maid are vagrants. Its all big trucker contactors that stay there. Lots of vulgarity and drinking alcohol. My friend and I had a fire safety issue that could trap us in our room that maintenance kept forgetting to repair. luckily we figured out how to working the safety latch on the door and the door stopper on the bottom on our door to free the door up, but in crisis?! i am handicap with the movement of my legs so the room was great. Close to the entrance, and bathroom was nice. However, The path to get from the handicap parking spaces to the door is crumbled rocky uneven walkways that have not been attended to for years. It makes it difficult for persons with canes, walkers, wheelchairs. I'm surprised that's allowed. We won't be staying there again and not only desire to report them to the BBB but considering calling who handles ADA walkways in that area.

Our family stayed one night at this hotel on a weekend trip. The smell in the room was nauseating, we killed multiple spiders in our room, the bathroom was full of mildew, and the floors had obviously not been cleaned. The room simply seemed like it was trashed and hadn't been at all maintained. The furniture was broken, the bedspreads were stained, and the room felt damp, stuffy and smelled awful. Fortunately, we were able to open the window to clean out some of the very strong smell. I was underwhelmed by the service and breakfast. The only good thing about the hotel was that the beds were comfortable if you could overlook the stained bedding. This hotel was overpriced and not fit to stay in.

My wife and I recently vacationed in Wisconsin, our first trip since Covid seems to be under control. We were very disappointed in the decline of multiple budget motel chains we used. The franchise owners are struggling to recover financially, and this has resulted in substandard building maintenance and staffing. My rating is for this property in particular. The room looked clean enough, but the bathtub had leftover hair and hadn't been really scrubbed in some time. We decided not to use it. (0 stars) The bathroom door squeaked, which indicates the room isn't regularly checked and the owners don't pay enough attention to the hospitality aspect of running a motel. It's a small thing, but I don't want to wake anyone up if I get up in the middle of the night. I bring my own can of household oil for times like this. (0 stars) The bedding and pillows were very comfortable, and there were no noisy neighbors in the rooms, hallways or outside. We got a good night's rest. (1 star) The breakfast area was not very well stocked, the fruit was old, and the tables were dirty and greasy. It seemed abandoned, with no one to be found for periodically cleaning and restocking. There weren't even cleaning supplies and a towel so se could clean the table ourselves. Napkins and hand sanitizaer didn't cut it. (0 stars) The front desk staff was efficient but indifferent. (0 stars) Based on these factors, my overall rating is 1 star. One thing we noticed after we checked in and were walking to our room was that the first room in the hallway was sealed off with a towel on the floor, and I would swear the extension cord coming out was for a dehumidifier. It could have been due to a smoker in a non-smoking room, but I wondered if it might have been mold instead.

Absolutely disgusting hotel. We got 2 rooms. One was a pet room (119) that had a skunk and pee smell so strong. I went to the front desk and advised how strong the smell was and they gave me an air freshener that still would not cover the smell. We paid extra for our pet and had the worst room there. The 2nd room (115) needs a whole lot if care as well. The bathroom had tile bits that looked like it eas never cleaned. The bathtub had mysteries stains on the wall as well as the ceiling above the bed. I understand that it is no Ritz, but this was so disappointing for what paid. When I addressed my concerns with the front desk, all they said was I will let my Manger know. I will never stay here again especially with other hotels in the area that are slightly higher, and way cleaner.

We made the reservation last minute. My husband is handicapped and they were gracious and helped with the luggage. The room was clean and the beds really comfortable. The people were very friendly and polite. Breakfast was good and overall the stay was excellent!

This hotel was disgusting. They had unprofessional, hand-made “No-Smoking” signs plastered all over entry area. As if they were pre-scolding the customers. Back door did not lock correctly. Sidewalk leading to the back door was cracked with missing pieces. Our room was out-of-date and very dirty. The bathroom had mold, floors were not vacuumed, blankets were from the 70’s.

It's old, run down and in need of repair and a deep cleaning. The bathroom ceiling was falling down and the room was not very clean. The man in the hallway that watched us walk down the corridor was very creepy. For the price it's quite the rip-off.
