This was our first time at this hotel since it rebranded. My expectations were probably higher than they should’ve been. Little things let it down- maybe not big things, but enough to bug me into feeling I had overpaid, and would not return. As an ex hotel manager, I judge places perhaps more critically than most, but having said that, I’ve had better experiences in a budget basic chain hotel! Poor service, rude or ambivalent staff need no excuse- they need a P45! At these prices, the answer from staff should always be Yes, of course. Even when I checked out, and was asked about my stay, the person wasn’t interested in my answer. However …. the room was ok, nothing special. The decor was nice. We didn’t eat at the hotel, so cannot comment on the food, but the menu looked interesting. We did not have breakfast, as I felt the option too expensive on top of an already high room price. Parking was extremely limited - as a disabled person I did not appreciate being told to go and find an NCP. When I explained about my blue badge, they just shrugged. As I said, not enough genuine interest in their paying guests. The worst bit of our stay was a welcome letter saying the bar calls last orders at 10.30pm. I found this unusual. We returned to the hotel that night at 10.55pm, and struggled to get a drink, while an abrupt bar person carried on closing down. We did then have to get served by an amazing lady on Reception, but from an extremely limited list. Just a frustrating experience!!
