Detroit Apartments

We stayed here for one night on July 27, 2024 to go to a Detroit Tigers baseball game. The valet, front desk clerk and another staffer Jay were all so friendly and helpful. Our check in was quick and efficient. The room was very nice with comfortable beds and nice clean, comfortable sheets. Jay helped to give us advice to take the free People Mover to the baseball game. We would definitely stay here again.

Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut. Nur wenige Minuten in die Innenstadt. Parkplatz (valet and self-parking) vorhanden. Die Zimmer sind schön und groß. Leider hatten wir das Problem, dass unser gebuchtes Zimmer nicht verfügbar war. Nach mehrmaligem urgieren wurden wir dann am nächsten Tag in ein Zimmer mit KingSize-Bett umgesiedelt. Die Dame an der Rezeption sagte uns, dass wenn man nicht direkt über die Homepage bucht, die Zimmer nicht garaniert sind. Frühstück im Hotel möglich - es gibt Starbucks-Cafe und ein paar Kleinigkeiten. Frühstück auch vom Hotel möglich - allerdings nicht empfehlenswert. Es gibt keine Milch und der Kellner ist 25 Minuten nicht mehr aufgetaucht. Abendessen im Hotel ok.

' Das Hotel liegt im Herzen der griechischen Stadtangebote und in Minuten von allen Arenas und Sportstadionen sowie den Ausstellungskunst-Studiohäusern. We chose the Siren due to its excellent location on Broadway - in the middle of downtown with lots of good bars and restaurants a few minutes’ walk away. It is in a unique building which makes imaginative use of the limited space available, given how narrow it is. We were aware the rooms were very small and so booked a Parlor room which was on the 8th floor. It was still on the small side but had 3 big windows with a great view of the Detroit Athletic Club building, Opera House and Tigers stadium. There was the usual city noise but this didn’t bother us at all. The room had nice bedding, a slim sofa, table and chair. There was no storage or hanging space for clothes due to space but a couple of hooks on the wall with hangers. There was no safe which was disappointing, and also no fridge. There was a cupboard under the TV with ironing board and fan/heater which we felt would have been better used for the above items. Quirky bathroom with nice but limited toiletries. Unfortunately there was no dine-in breakfast option available at this hotel - at our time of booking, they had this in the Ash Bar as well as a weekend brunch, but these were stopped a few weeks before our stay. You can get coffee and a pastry in the lobby. Also no happy hour which was previously listed. It seems like they don’t have much demand for this bar as it was closed at random times. Hopefully these will come back. We did have a drink at the Candy Bar which was fun. There was no coffee in the room, and no complimentary water anywhere. The corridors and communal areas are extremely dark which takes some getting used to, but not really a problem as you aren’t in them for long. Staff interaction is minimal but courteous. Would recommend.

Die Zimmereinrichtungen sind OK, mit Frühstück, der Kellner ist im Grunde schwarz, schwarz, aber die Einstellung ist immer noch sehr gut. Außerdem ist Detroit wirklich gefährlich, besonders nachts.

History buff here, I was excited to come here to experience the history and the 100th anniversary of the hotel, 1924-2024. There is no mention of anything of this sort anywhere in the hotel; no signs, plaques, pictures, souvenirs, printed material, nothing, zilch. A simple historical postcard in the guestroom would've been a nice touch. I understand the hotel was gutted and mostly unsalvageable, but there could be some nods somewhere here and there. This building is a landmark in Detroit and that is a fact. With that being said; the hotel is very clean & modern, staff that we encountered were pleasant. Breakfast at the Boulevard in the morning was satisfactory, I was treated nicely as a Bonvoy Platinum. Our suite was spacious, comfortable and bright with several windows, the bathroom was huge; everything was clean as well. The parking garage next door is useful, staff was pleasant there also, we did self-parking for 25$. It is difficult to fault this hotel, just don't come for the charm because you will not find it. The only charm left is the outside architecture, which was nicely preserved. So there's that. ;)

I wanted to like this hotel, but the reality is I wouldn't stay here again. The service and amenities do not match the price point of this property, which commands $400-500+/night rooms and $48/night parking. Too many problems, some big some small, that all added up to be a disappointing experience. Some examples: * Biggest problem was the mattress! They are incredibly soft to where my 5'10, 150 pound frame sunk legitimately halfway into the mattress. Any support the mattress had has been softened by the body impressions of prior guests I'm sure. I had a lot of trouble sleeping because of this, like I was sleeping on a slant rather than flat. I've never experienced this before. * Phone did not work so there was no way to contact the front desk * They don't respond to the feature in the Marriott app where you can text the hotel staff with requests - we asked for a second robe as you'd think should have been provided when I said there would be 2 adults staying in the room... (in general the front desk staff has some nice people and some rude people). * No luggage racks, even when requested. Why am I on the floor accessing my sprawled luggage? * The room thermostat and HVAC were not designed well. We walked into the room on a chilly 64 degree day and the AC was blasting, it was frigid in the room. We turned on the Heat but even after 30 minutes there was still no warm air coming out. If we turned on the AC at all it would freeze the room with vast quantities of cold air but if you click it off the room gets humid... * After being out all day we got back to our room at 5:30pm and housekeeping hadn't even come yet. * We were on a high floor but the noise from outside (car noise, people yelling) was very loud. I don't experience this when I'm in Chicago or NYC... I imagine they cut corners on the windows and other soundproofing during the renovation. Bring a white noise machine. In short, I would say that this hotel wants to be upscale but doesn't know how. I've had better stays at Westins. Peel back the wallpaper and decorative furniture and this is actually a pretty bad hotel deep down.

This hotel is extremely well run. The staff is knowledgeable, efficient and very conscientious. The room was clean and well apportioned. However, room was a bit dark in certain areas, but it was spacious and had no mechanical or electrical issues. Keep in mind that this hotel is an urban areas, as result you will hear noise that is typical for a large city. You are within walking distance for many good places to dine and attractions downtown. The hotel lobby is dated and warn. It needs an update. It was still very clean and spacious. This is a perfect location to stay if you plan to attend any Detroit sporting events. You are a 5-10 minute walk from Comerica Park and Ford Field and 10-15 minute walk to the ice/basketball area. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there the next time we are in Detroit.
