Berber Family Lodge

My wife and I visited the Berber Family Lodge for our honeymoon. They went above and beyond to make our stay, and that of all the other guests, an incredible experience. Mohamed, our host, was very communicative and helpful. He organised us a driver from Marrakech airport to take us to his village, Abersioul, where the lodge is located. As we arrived at night, he even helped us to carry our suitcases up to the village, and then prepared us tea to enjoy on our balcony as we watched the stars. Mohamed and Latifa permitted us to use their family fridge to store a few things we had brought (medical & food), which was so kind of them. The food they prepared for meals was incredible - breakfast was freshly made bread with local honey, jam, and peanut butter. Due to my wife’s health requirements, they also provided her with fruit - bananas & avocados - again, going the extra mile to help us! The tagines that Latifa (Mohamed’s wife) and Radija (Mohamed’s mother) prepared for dinner were delicious. They also offered a cooking class which we enjoyed thoroughly. One of the heroes of the trip was Hasan, Mohamed’s cousin, who helps to run the lodge. He was always present for us, providing us with water on request, and even going to Imlil to collect a souvenir one of the other guests wanted. Hasan and Mohamed even brought us a portable stove to use in the spare kitchen for a day when we cooked our own meal! Mohamed helped us organise tours for treks and visit to local markets. The guides were brilliant; competent and knowledgeable. It was a 40-60 minute fairly gentle trek along lovely winding mountain trails to Imlil, which we throughly enjoyed. The view was magical. It looks even better than in the photos. The night sky was one of the clearest I had also ever seen, perfect for stargazing. But it was our hosts who made this trip the most incredible experience. We highly recommend staying at the Berber Family Lodge and visiting this beautiful part of the world! Thank you so, so much for everything!

A wonderful place to stay. I look forward to going back for a longer stay. We stayed 4 nights. The rooms were excellent. The staff was outstanding. They were very helpful in arranging guides, showing us walking trails and arranging transportation to and from Imlil. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent.

We had such a great trip to BFL. The food was great and the lodge is beautifully designed and decorated. Mohamed can also sort pretty much anything for you. Really a great place to stay and if you’re looking to do a hike in the Atlas Mtns let Mohamed organise it- much better than doing with a big company.

My second time here. It’s a pearl! Lovely rooms and excellent view on the toubkal mountain. Such an idyllic place for family visit. Diner in the open living room is magical! Even when the wind blows. That can happen in the mountains. We where with a family group of 9x.

Highly recommend!! everything was planned out for us from transfers into the mountains from Marrakesh to guides for walks as well as stunning food and hospitality. The owner was very accommodating and tailored our visit to what we were wanting to do and had our first day planned out for us which was a 10k walk round the local village and stopping for lunch with a local family, the second day we were able to relax at the lodge until our transfer back arrived. Looking forward to come back in the near future!!

We have just arrived back in the UK after an amazing Morocco trip. A highlight being the Berber Family Lodge... What a place! We stayed for 5 days and could of stayed for more. The environment was spectacular, I could quite happily spend all day looking at the view from the terrace. There are numerous hikes to be had straight from the lodge but being August it was rather hot! Asni souk by bus was truly a locals experience.. Mainly, we were particularly touched by the Family. They were so helpful and kind and really made us feel at home. A truly family enterprise with Mohammed and Hussan at the helm, and the food was delicious... Thank You so much BFL, we will be back (if you will have us) !

The highlight of our Morocco trip. I have travelled all over the world and truly would say that this is the kindest village I’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with. This family run stay is authentic, abundant, generous, comfortable and safe. My son played with all the children in the village - they were so lovely with him, they catered to our vegan diet, the rooms view are of the mountains, everything was perfect. 0 complaints! It’s been so lovely to see the ways of the Berber peoples, living in harmony with the land - it’s so peaceful and beautiful. The food is so fresh and generous. You can go on mountain hikes and walk to the waterfall in Imlil. We swam in the river just down from the village and was invited in for tea by so many of the village peoples. It will stay a special place in our heart Thank you Mohamed and your family, super super grateful!

We had an amazing 3 nights / days in Imlil staying at The Berber Lodge. What amazing views in a peaceful village. Mohamed was helpful and thoughtful throughout our stay and he shared a lot of fascinating history and local knowledge. His story of how he established the Lodge is inspiring. His cousin Hassan looked after us with delicious breakfast and dinner.

This is the most magical place! We absolutely loved our stay - it was a comfortable, authentic experience with exceptional hospitality from Hassan and Mohammed! The views of Toubkal and the surrounding valley are breathtaking! We loved the furnishings and decor. The food was also delicious - it's worth enjoying the dinner at the lodge for a wholesome, delicious home-cooked tagine! All round, staying at Berber Family Lodge was a wonderful experience which we highly recommend.
