Best Western Walworth Castle Hotel looks like you’re about to stay in a medieval fortress, but the experience is closer to a slightly ******* Premier Inn with turrets. The castle exterior is genuinely impressive. The inside feels like it was last renovated during the English Civil War. Creaky floors, questionable décor, piggy smell breakfasts and recepcionist smile thicker than the castle walls. That said, it’s strangely charming in the same way old pubs and abandoned stately homes are charming. Not luxurious, not modern, but definitely memorable.

Superb hotel, superb food in Marco Pierre White's restaurant. Special mention to the receptionist , Urra (I've got that badly wrong) , Rhiannon and the restaurant staff. What an amazing, we stayed in a superior room which was outstanding. Amazing stay

Das Zimmer war geräumig und komfortabel. Es kommt mit kostenlosem Frühstück, das ist gut. Das Frühstück war ok, das gleiche Essen jeden Morgen. Das einzige, was uns hinablässt, ist eine der Mitarbeiter im Restaurant. Wir saßen dort für Alter, bis sie serviert werden. Weil er uns nicht bis 8 Uhr bedienen wird. So haben wir geduldig wartet, weil wir gerade die Nacht angekommen sind und sehr hungrig war. Dieser Mann bediente andere Menschen, aber nicht uns. So mein Mann und ich fragten, was los ist. Also ging mein Mann zum Teller und setzte sich auf. Aber als es meines Mannes war, fragte er: ”Wer ist der Nächste?? Offensichtlich war mein Mann vor ihm. Dann, als mein Mann fragte, ob wir jetzt bestellen könnten, sah er mich und ihn an und sagte: ”Oh, warte auf dein Tisch, und ich werde dein Befehl von dort. . Vielleicht, weil ich der einzige asiatische da bin. Ich fühle mich, als ob es ein bisschen ****** zu ehrlich sein. Wir gingen zurück zu unserem Tisch und warten, um wieder zu servieren. Aber er stieg nicht auf und servierte den nächsten Tisch neben uns und servierte einen anderen Kunden, der nach uns kam. Ich war so verrückt und beunruhigt. Aber ich will nicht eine Szene verursachen. So gingen wir gerade raus und suchten ein anderes Restaurant außerhalb des Hotels. Wir sind so enttäuscht, und wir hatten nicht erwartet, dass man so behandelt wird. Der Empfangsmann war sehr nett und hilfreich. Ich habe nur seinen Namen vergessen. Aber der im Restaurant ist überhaupt nicht nett. Er ruinierte unseren Familienurlaub. Wir kommen nicht mehr zurück.

Absolutely wonderful. Id stayed at Durham Royal County before with my girlfriend. However she didn't come with ne this time due to reasons that she had. The staff at the hotel were lovely about it and made me feel better about tge situation and a lovely note and complementary drinks for me to come back to in my room. All I can say is thankyou and I'll look forward to staying with you again soon. Thanks Matthew

last minute booking, great service, lucky enough to be upgraded to a lovely room, really friendly staff. Food and drinks reasonable.. spent time in Spa which was very relaxing and just what we needed. Had a look round new entertainment centre . The driving range and facilities is great,  will Definately be taking a  return visit.

Was a romantic get away, found that the drinks are expensive inside the hotel. we never ate at the hotel, as there is a couple of nice pubs close by. the staff were friendly, THe place is a bit of a maze but cool. they do run daily tours but its best if you book up in advance as when we tried to do day of the tour no availability. it is run via a 3rd party not the hotel itself.

Amazing stay. The customer service was impeccable from the off, very clean, all the necessary amenities, and a super comfortable bed and pillow.

Absolutely spotless and finished to a high standard. Decor is modern and appealing throughout. Staff are helpful. Lovely restaurant and fantastic coffee served there. The only slight issue I would say, is that you can hear guests in the next room very easily and this isn’t desirable for obvious reasons. We sadly ended up with very noisy guests in the room next to us the first night we stayed and this caused considerable disruption to our sleep pretty much all night. Saying this, we didn’t notify the staff though (so they may have been able to help) as there was no phone in the room. The next night was fine and completely silent so this would be dependent on who you have staying near you.

The hotel has a very good location, which is definitely a plus and makes it convenient for exploring the area. However, we were disappointed by a few additional charges. Bathrobes are provided only for an extra £8, and the hotel parking is also paid, which was not very convenient and added unexpected costs to the stay.

The accommodation was close to the theatre and centre of town. The room was very small, but it was clean and okay for the one night we booked.
