Cervo Zermatt offers maybe THE best location in Zermatt for ski ******* as it's ski-in and also very easy to get the mountain train going to Sunnega (2200m). Yet, having a perfect location is not enough here. For the price you pay, (1000+€/night) you would expect a bit more. The box where you put your shoes after ski barely heats, resulting in getting wet shoes the next morning. The breakfast buffet is quite limited when compared to many other hotels and resorts in the same price range. Service at breakfast was slow to extremely slow, even when only a few tables were having breakfast. The restaurants for dinner (we tried the Lebanese and the Italian) are good, but clearly nothing spectacular for the price. Special mention for the 10CHF/L tap water. Always leaves you with a very bitter taste when a restaurant (or any kind of company) just abuse on a pricing of something that is "free". Paying high price for a quality and rare wine, no problem. Paying high price for something that literally costs them nothing, is something I'll always struggle to accept. Abusing of the fact that people will always need water during a dinner. Everything else is already expensive, what about not abusing of your wealthy clients by charging reasonable price for tap water? We were staying in building 3. The sound isolation is extremely bad. 2 nights out of our 4 nights we stayed there, we were waken up in the middle of the nights by noisy neighbours. One night, at 1:30am, we could hear our neighbour from above, shouting over the phone, it felt like he was sitting in the room with us. Overall, an expensive place for what you get. Still a nice place, but massively overpriced.
