La Terraza Guest House B&B

La Terazza is one of those places you come across rarely when travelling, it ticks every box twice over and you just do not want to leave. We stayed here two nights and wish we stayed a week. How to describe it??? It’s set in a quiet location just outside Grecia. The house has recently been painted in stunning murals of costa recan wildlife. Our room was beautiful, you can see that the owner has exquisite taste in every little detail. Sitting on the balcony enjoying the freshly made muffins left in our room, listening to the sounds of the river and looking out over the most delightful garden we have come across in CR. We have never seen so many butterflies in one place and plants and flowers of every colour and shade. We could have spent all day in this garden. As we arrived in the evening, they offered to serve us a delicious costa rican dinner. We wish we had arranged the same for the second night! The staff here are absolutely delightful, they are constantly smiling and nothing is too much trouble. Charles the owner is a wonderful character, we could have spent all night chatting to him. John was fantastic too and very welcoming. This place is SPECIAL !

A beautiful peaceful place. We stayed only one night but would definitely stay again. Comfortable room with everything we needed, including the sound of the stream at night. We enjoyed the gardens & the colorful murals on the buildings & breakfast was delicious!

So many reasons to love my stay....Charles and the staff are relaxed, warm and welcoming, even though I arrived late in the evening. Because my phone wasn't working, Charles kindly woke me up at 4:30 AM so that I could catch my ride to the airport when I left! My room was spacious, spotless and lovely, and had a private balcony overlooking a murmuring brook that sang to me all night through my open slider. The grounds are private and verdant, and yet convenient to Grecia's restaurants, etc. A traditional Costa Rican breakfast in the shaded courtyard , complete with CR's famous coffee, couldn't have been more idyllic. Every detail from the homemade cookies in my room to the vine-covered gate contribute to the Guest House's tranquil atmosphere. I hope to return someday!

My family of four (2 adults and 2 young kids) stayed at La Terraza for 3 nights. We had a wonderful stay! The room was spacious and clean. The garden was beautiful and was a lovely place to stroll. My 4 year old really enjoyed seeing all the different fruit and citrus trees. The garden is truly an oasis. The breakfasts changed daily and were all DELICIOUS. The employees were very kind and helpful. We will definitely plan to stay here again!

We stayed here after a red eye flight into SJO. It was a comfortable 40 minute early morning drive (in a rental car) from SJO to La Terraza. Located in a very cozy and safe town (Grecia), up a small hill, within residential homes is La Terraza. Bright yellow, inviting color guest house with parking and the guest house B & B is gated. Gorgeous, lush grounds with plenty of nature surrounding La Terraza. Hummingbirds, butterflies, many more different types of birds and stunning plants and trees. You have arrived into Costa Rica's inviting nature environment at La Terraza. The staff is very kind and we were welcomed warmly and they also emailed us prior to our visit to make sure we were secure with our arrival. Kindness, more kindness and we felt at home immediately. They provided us with breakfast, which is handmade freshly in the kitchen. Warm aromas of coffee, fresh juice and fresh fruit and baked items with care and love. There is a beautiful patio with an outside dining area where we enjoyed our meal. The room had a balcony which we sat on for hours on 2 rocking chairs, overlooking a steady stream of soothing water. Absolutely STUNNING! La Terraza is very clean, cozy, and has very nice decorative qualities that I enjoyed to be surrounded by, upon our stay. There is a small bridge we walked over to land across a running stream and took lots of photos. We explored the nature around us and had a lot of fun! We only stayed 1 night, as we were on our way to be married at the La Fortuna Waterfall the following day. We wish we could have stayed several more days at La Terraza, because we loved it so much, but it was a terrific place to stay upon our arrival into SJO. The best part is when the owner came to our breakfast table to introduce himself to us. We loved that. Many compliments to La Terraza! Upon our next trip to Costa Rica, we will be back to stay here! Pura vida!

My partner and I stayed here and the service was top notch. John was our host and welcomed us at 11 pm as there were delays with our flight. He met us at the gate and took us to our room where there were two pitchers in the fridge filled with mint leaf water and tea (I think?). They also had two cupcakes waiting for us in the fridge with a cute little red ribbon. There are bottles of wine in the room for purchase (red and white), a wine opener and a couple glasses. Really nice touch. Also a microwave, utensils, lotion, soap, coffee maker, etc. WiFi password in the room. The beds and pillows were comfy. The rushing river lulled us to sleep. In the morning, my guy wasn’t feeling well from some Chinese food the day prior. They brought a delicious breakfast to our door, even though they already had a table set for us in the morning. Waking up was a wonderful surprise, the property was gorgeous. You’re embedded in the lush beauty of the jungle, surrounded by butterflies and singing birds. This was our first time here, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.
