Metaxa Hotel

Das Hauptproblem war, dass sich das Hotel an einem anderen Ort befindet als auf der Karte angegeben. Das machte es etwas schwierig, es zu finden. Und der Weg zum Strand ist etwas länger als geschätzt. Trotzdem war das Zimmer sauber und komfortabel. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Aber für die meisten zusätzlichen Dienstleistungen fallen zusätzliche Gebühren an. Vielleicht werden so die geringen Zimmerkosten kompensiert. Es erscheint einigermaßen rational, aber es ist das erste Mal, dass ich einen Aufpreis für das WLAN sehe. Einige gemeinsame Einrichtungen erscheinen etwas veraltet. Wäre besser aufgefrischt. Im Allgemeinen war mein Aufenthalt problemlos und komfortabel. Ich empfehle den Ort und ich würde wieder dort hin gehen.

Was really excited when the coach pulled up outside the. metaxa as it looked lovely and welcoming. Wrong Stellios the owner was pleasant and put on a smile when retired. The apartment was basic but clean but a/c and the fridge were extra at the desk. The advertised pool bar was generally unattended and you had to find the owner or his daughter to get you something and if you were unlucky enough to get the daughter you were met with sullen looks and no conversation. Breakfast was basic. Boiled eggs , ham and cheese with croissants but you had to be early as the croissants quickly disappeared and weren’t replaced. Coco an African grey parrots so it’s on a perch I the dining room. Very friendly but do not whistle at him. The parrot loved the attention but the daughter didn’t like anyone talking g to him and a sign quickly got out up at reception saying don’t whistle at the parrot. (Even though it whistles at you !) Stelio prided himself on having the cleanest pool in kalamaki. What he didn’t say was it tasted of the most chlorine and was also the coldest. This place is more a family home than a welcoming hotel and I definitely would go back

Just back after a week stay here. Enjoyed our here. Was a short walk to the *****. Rooms were clean and tidy if a little basic but as a base they were fine. Breakfast was basic too being the continental option. They do serve food through the day at a cost but we never tried this. The pool was nice and clean with plenty of sunbeds. All in all a nice, clean and friendly hotel but basic, my only quibble is to buy food or drink its cash only, in this day and age you'd expect to be able to pay on card too.

This was out 15th time in Kalamaki and we have already booked again to return to this little hotel. We loved the staff and stelios and coco are both great characters. One day we thought we had lost 150 euro but was so happy to come in and it was laying neatly on our bed. The lovely made had found it and put it on our bed for us.so very kind of her. We love room 115 the bed was so comfy. Breakfast we paid 5 euro each a couple of times and it was everything we needed. This place is a little gem and being close to our favourite restaurant paolo was a bonus. See you next September. I promise not to whistle to coco again!! Sharon and Chris x

Great hotel, smashing owner, lovely food, great location and the cleanest pool in all of Greece. From arriving to leaving Stelios was friendly and available for chats and any issues. The hotel was clean and typically Greek. The location is 2 minutes to the ***** and 5 minutes from the beach. Everything you need is here.

This was a brilliant small hotel ,the staff were very helpfully kind and attentive ,the rooms were basic clean and fulfilled our needs ,a fabulous swimming pool always nice and clean .Only small negative maybe slightly more choice for breakfast saying that it was adequate. We got caught up in the last air traffic controllers dispute so had to stay another night and the manager Stellios put us in our original room and kept us informed of the return pick ups etc . I would highly recommend this nice budget family run little hotel . A small walk to the Kalamaki ***** and the wonderful beach .

A pleasant enough hotel for 2 stars. On arrival, we waited quite some time for anyone to come to serve us, we arrived at around 5 pm. We were roughly pointed in the direction of our room. The room was clean on arrival, but the cleaning in the week that we stayed was very hit and miss. There were no cups in the room so we had to buy a couple at the local supermarket Rooms at the bottom rear of the hotel are quite dark and face the car park, there are some nice trees in a garden area before the car park. We paid 7 euros a day for air con and 3 euros a day for a full sized fridge, which, as you can read on previous reviews, you simply plug in. The tax was only 50 cent a night as its a 2 star hotel. The breakfast was cartons of orange or apple juice, sliced bread with a toaster, a selection of jam/honey, yogurt, sices of ham and cheese, slices of tomato and cucumber, corn flakes, sliced cake, some days fried and some days boiled eggs. A very basic breakfast, and we did bore of it but perfectly adequate. I think the main issue that we had with this hotel was the noise, the planes flew a lot later at night and earlier in the morning than we remembered from our previous visit to Zante, around 11pm and then again at 5am, as you are so close to the run way it's loud. The hotel also has some chickens in the back, with a turkey that swarks anytime from 3am - 6am. Unfortunately for us, we also had some terribly noisy guests sharing the hotel with us returning at 2am slaming doors and shouting down the corridors. (Not the hotels fault) The pool area was nice, on a few afternoons, my partner and I had the pool to ourselves. We ate once from the snack bar and the food was good. The location is good with a short walk up to main street and a slightly longer one down to the beach.

Just got back from a fantastic two weeks at the Metaxa Hotel. Stelios and his son and staff couldn't have made us more welcome. Our room was very clean with a great shower and was kept clean by the maids daily. Continental breakfast was provided which was good. Some days you could have fried eggs instead of boiled eggs which was better. The pool area was very clean with plenty of sunbeds. We ate at the snack bar and the food was great. Pizza was freshly made and tasted fantastic. Prices are very reasonable both for food and drinks. My wife was ill one day and Stelios and his son asked me if she needed anything to eat or drink different to what they provide if so to let them know in the morning and they will go and get whatever she needed. We thought that this was great to go out of there way to help when they didn't need to. When we come back to Zante we will definitely book to stay here again.
