If you want to have budget trip, here is it. Its convenient from the train but somehow Im not so comfortable to had shared toilets with others. Just stay a night here should be okay

Friendly for solo travelers. Location is good, around 5min walk from train station. Staff are friendly and nice. Super good.

The location is very convenient, closed to the train station. The private room is clean, althoug a little chilly.

Safestay in York is an excellent place to stay, especially if you arrive by train. It is a few minutes' walk from the station, and also very close to all the major attractions. We stayed in a room in the basement, and although it was not luxurious, it had everything we needed. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. There was a dehumidifier in the room, so no moldy, damp smell. Even though it was freezing outside, the radiator kept the room warm enough. The bathroom is quite small, though, and no bath mat was supplied for when you step out of the shower. The water in the shower did not get hot enough - it stayed lukewarm. The breakfast was good value for money, but it could get quite noisy when there were large groups of people. I also saw people taking all the fruit and extra yoghurts and croissants for 'takeaways'. The staff were friendly and very helpful. All in all it was a great place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone.

Stayed in a six-person female dormitory for my stay here. No qualms here! Of course, there were things like no cover on the top bunks, so light spilled in, but a face mask and ear plugs for sharing with other people is an easy fix for this. Bathroom pretty tiny in the room, but no real issue. The place is super close to the York train station and the Micklegate entrance of the York walls (which you can take into the city centre), so this was awesome! Would stay here again. :)

Very good location and friendly staff who helped us with our check-in process. The showers did not have hot water on the day we arrived but they let us use the communal toilets instead.

Good place for solo travel

Made a last minute reservation, but didn't realise it was female only. Receptionist informed me then told me there's nothing she can do as it's non-refundable. Told me I could reach out to manager through the email but then changed her mind that I should go through trip.com. Went through trip.com to ask for a refund, with no response. There was no empathy from the receptionist, just talked me down saying next time I should be wise when booking.

Great on location and the staff were friendly and super helpful. I stayed in the 8 beds dormitory room ensuite (females only). My room was clean, airy and bright. The only issue I had was the ensuite, which was very small and didn’t even have soap. I also didn’t get a good shower, the water was lukewarm when I tried.
