Dear Courtyard Marriott team - I am very sorry to be the first person to break the 5 - star streak but my feedback is coming from a good place. We stayed for 5 nights. Early check-in was accommodated, for which I am grateful - Luiza was pleasant and Haik was an absolute delight (he genuinely cares for his guests). Room was quite small, even for a Courtyard Marriott. I opted for a Superior King Room (city view). Do yourself a favour please and book a basic room as both rooms are the same size and the ‘city view’ is not worth paying the extra $$. During our stay, the toilet kept running water and we reported this to the front desk at least three times. Unfortunately, despite this issue being acknowledged, the problem was never fixed and this was particularly annoying at night time when we were trying to fall asleep - really disappointed. We also found the room to be quite hot and reported this to front desk staff on several occasions. We were told a different story each time. Specifically, ‘the settings have been changed to winter; you can try change the settings to from heat to the AC; you can open your window’. Well, we did open the window but the street and traffic noise was loud. I have been staying at the Marriott chain for 15 years now and previous hotels around the world were able to adjust the thermostat upon request, unsure why this couldn’t be accommodated at this hotel. Needless to stay we did not sleep well at all, for what was meant to be a relaxing holiday. One night, the safe in the room timed out and I couldn’t open it. I called the front desk and sought assistance. For almost half an hour, front desk kept telling me security was 2 mins away to fix the issue. Eventually, I got really frustrated and had to go down in person to seek an update. The matter was eventually resolved but the overall communication was poor. Breakfast was good, although I did notice staff, three mornings in a row, congregated around the bar on their mobile phones, which I thought was unprofessional. They don’t need to be over servicing but it’s just not a good look. Spa was fabulous and the staff member (sorry I don’t remember her name) was always AMAZING !! I actually had planned to stay at the Marriott hotel in republic square but changed to courtyard marriott almost last minute . For the price paid and issues experienced l, I wish I would have stayed at the Marriott instead. The hotel has great potential but not quite there yet !!!
