Halfway House Inn Country Lodge

Stayed there for a long weekend as my wife and I attended a reunion in Yeovil. Great place with friendly and helpful staff. Food for the evening meals was excellent and the portions were more than plentyful as was the breakfasts. I had the traditional and my wife had the vegetarian. Our hotel room was spot on, warm and comfortable to sleep in with a en suite with bath and shower. Highly recommend however please be aware it is in Chilthourne and taxis to and from Yeovil where around £25 each way.

My experience was very poor. Broken and missing handles on the windows, bland and tasteless Thai pub food, loud traffic noise and the worst mattress I have ever experienced. The thick iron springs could be felt through the mattress and a good nights sleep was impossible. The cooked breakfast was OK but the quality of the bread, marmalade ‘paste’ and general cleanliness around the breakfast area was pretty grim. A plastic table cloth and hot water from an urn to make tea made the overall experience pretty awful. The room I stayed in should be NOT be offered to guests until the window and mattress are replaced as an absolute minimum standard. If the owners feel this review is harsh, I seriously suggest they try to sleep in this room themselves and then they will understand. I stay around this area every month and this is, by far, the worst stay I have experienced.

Excellent place to stay , staff very welcoming and friendly. Room very clean everything you need . Food excellent. Very local for everything, it feels to be near road when you arrive but as rooms at the back of hotel you can not hear it. I’m just sat listening to the birds singing looking at sun rising over lake. Perfect start to my day.
