Beschreibung der Unterkunft
A glorious barn converted to cottage, that’s as stunning on the inside as it’s surroundings on the outside. This is one for lovers of the good life, a countryside escape away from it all. Set in the remarkably pretty Tamar Valley, Driftwood Cottage is the quintessentially picture perfect retreat away from it all. With only the sounds of birds and owls for company. Introduction: Approached via a half mile winding country driveway and etched upon a sylvan backdrop with buzzards wheeling overhead. A 200-year-old barn reinterpreted – This is a wonderful escape for couples, families and friends alike. The dog friendly retreat affords a slice of country living on modern terms. The 200-year-old barn once served the local silver and copper mines but has undergone a sensitive restoration to offer luxury self-catering escapes. Rustic and warm by nature, Driftwood has character bursting right through this picturesque cottage. Windows frame views over the salt marsh meadows and the self-contained garden looks towards Cornwall. Nestled into the South-Western edge of 368 square miles of Dartmoor National Park. There are walking trails in abundance and the cottage is set on the "Tamara Way" coast to coast path. Inside: Step inside and you will discover a warm and welcoming homestay. Recently refurbished throughout. A work of art for artists and lovers of magical encounters. Honey-hued beams and hand crafted furnishings are a celebration of a magical fairyland. Modern artistry shines through this luxury West Devon Cottage. Original beams, limewash paints and colours have been used to restore original stonework built by stonemasons hundreds of years ago. Stone and pine boarded floors covered in Persian rugs warm to the feet to keep up the original country character. Living and eating: The open plan living, kitchen and dining area is just lovely. The far wall is home to the kitchen, with everything you need. Compact yet housing everything to create meals for you and yours, you'll find a hob and oven, 12 place dishwasher, fridge with freezer, microwave and coffee Cafetiere as well as all the other equipment. Breakfast bar and dining table for 6. In addition, there's a washing machine under the stairs. To the front making the most of the views across the river to Cornwall and The National Trust House Cotehele, lies a comfortable sofa and lots of cushions facing a 75” smart TV for those special evenings in. Door to the seating area outside for dining in the sunshine and walks with the dogs over the marsh and beyond. Sleeping : Bedroom One: Just WOW. Accessed via a short staircase the huge master bedroom flaunts a hand carved super comfy king-sized four post bed dressed in pure cotton linen and masses of romance. The perfect place for a weary soul. Surrounded by modern works of art bring you to a dreamy magical world of drifting seas and rivers where magical folk abound, and a view down the river estuary. There is also a single hand-crafted bed. Bathing: The luxurious en-suite bathroom sports a freestanding double ended bath for long luxurious soaks and a large rainfall shower over. Heated towel rail for keeping the pure cotton towels gorgeously warm. WC and washbasin. Bedroom two Continue up the short flight of stairs from the landing and enter the second tucked away bedroom. The beds are handcrafted, a single and a double, made from driftwood and reclaimed materials. With original honey-hued beams above and modern works of art, bringing more magical encounters with fairyland. Bathing: The walk-in shower room has a super power shower, washbasin and WC. Outside: With an owner passionate about the natural countryside and environment, there are 28 acres of woodland, pastures and salt-marsh meadows that cradle the cottage. With views to Cornwall and the National Trust House and Garden, “Cotehele” on the other side of the river. Untouched for the last 40-50 years by anything other than the local sheep. Bees and wild flowers are bountiful. With hillsides of wild garlic, primroses and bird-song. A host of wild birds and bees a cacophony of natural sounds. Otters, deer, muntjac, and hedgehogs are regular visitors. And the owls play an orchestra most evenings.
