Barceló Maya Colonial - All Inclusive

Kid friendly. Recommend 100 %. We are a family of 4 with two children and I would definitely book my next vacations here again.

Room was always cleaned beautifully. Great restaurants, but make sure to make reservations ahead of time as they fill quickly. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The pools were very large and perfect temperature. They also have a nightclub included between resorts.

Stay somewhere else. I don’t know why this property is so hyped up but we were utterly disappointed and we are used to bare minimum and 3star hotels, we are not fancy travelers by any means. First off, check in took well over 30 minutes and we were lied to at check in (told they didn’t have 2 rooms close by at first, then later it turns out that they did in fact have 2 rooms close by). Beds are horrible, mattresses are so soft that you fall into the middle of them. Shower head has no pressure so it takes double the amount of time. The food in the buffets is bland and flavorless, not much better in ala carte restaurants. The steakhouse has the smallest portions on the planet so be warned because even my 10 year old was left hungry after that dinner. The beach was incredibly filthy with seaweed (not their fault) but at every other resort the staff clean it, not here. Here the seaweed just sits and accumulates and stinks sooooo bad it’s impossible to get anywhere near the water. The water is also full of rocks so the fact that it’s full of seaweed as well makes for a dangerous situation as you can’t see the rocks and we all cut up our feet. They have 5/6 lonely sad dolphins swimming around in the smallest little pool. Very sad and why they haven’t relocated these gentle creatures to a bigger space is still beyond me. Bars are also a hit or miss with drinks. Overall, just a disappointing stay and nothing impressive or nice or memorable about it at all. We won’t be back.
