I'm not aware of any other hotel chains with a presence in Douala besides Ibis where I stayed 2 nights. It was a bad experience before I even arrived. I e-mailed them to arrange the complimentary airport transfer and was met with radio silence. It was only after I reached out to Accor Customer Service and much follow-up that Ibis Douala finally responded to me. (Kudos to Accor Customer Service!) After I got to my room, I noticed a pesticide smell but I put it off as something that would go away but it didn't and was affecting my sleep so I went to reception to enquire about the odour at which point the attendant referred me to a piece of paper on the bench which mentioned that the hotel was undergoing hygiene treatment on the 2 days I was there - this was the first time I was shown this notice! They changed my room to another one - on the same floor - because the air con in my initial room couldn't be turned off, but the smell of pesticide remained but they said it was the same throughout the hotel. Luckily, the odour was less pungent on my second night - which makes me wonder why they couldn't have either 1. scheduled the treatment outside of the Christmas busy period or 2. timed the treatment so that certain floors were treated on the first day and the remaining floors the next day so that guests can stay on floors less affected by the odour - which may be harmful to one's health! The hotel room was tired and dated with dull green coloured tiles on the bathroom floor. Also, the hot water tap needs to be turned on for at least 10 minutes before there is any hot water. There was no variety to the buffet breakfast - it was the same everyday. On the plus side, the hotel is within 20 minutes walk of 2 supermarkets.

Ich musste hier 10 Tage bleiben. Meine Erfahrung ist sehr angenehm. Die Lebensmittelauswahl im Buffet ist sehr vielfältig. Es ist mehr von der ex-pat Aroma ...bedeutet sehr gut und weniger auf Gewürze. Der Pool ist sehr einladend. Das Fitnesscenter ist grundlegende, aber es ist dort und sauber. Sie haben Bar und Kühlraum, das ist schön. Das Zimmer ist geräumig. Dark themed Hotel wurde hell und lebendig mit dem Catering-Personal, Zimmeranwender, Sicherheitspersonal und aufmerksames Front Desk Personal gemacht. Es war etwas schwierig, die Währungen zu ändern. Diese Beobachtung könnte für mich das wichtigste sein, vielleicht für andere trivial, aber sie beeindruckten mich mit diesem Artikel: Ich habe nie eine Moskito oder ein Insekt in meinem Zimmer gesehen. Eine erste für mich in einem afrikanischen Hotel. Große Hausmeister. Genießt meinen 10-Tage-Aufenthalt.

We were impressed with this hotel. The rooms were comfortable with nice bedding and linens. The breakfast is very good (except the coffee) and the restaurant is a fine choice for dinner, although there are other options nearby. But the real STARS of this hotel are the staff. They were lovely. Jude at reception was professional and friendly and went out of his way to help us. Emmanuelle gave us good tips for our one day off work. The nice trainer in the gym -- I forgot his name -- gave us good advice for using weights. We will be back!

Have stayed here several times and quality remains. They thought of everything in the room and the bed is comfortable. The food is delicious and prepared on demand. But what really sets them apart is the customer service: everyone is polite, smiles and helpful. Special shout out to Leonel, D’Aquin, the valet and room service teams. Truly the best in the city

The stay was short but nice. Clean rooms and very welcoming people. At first, I was skeptical about staying in this hotel due to its location on the map. I was well received and given a personal tour of the hotel by Anne who made sure I knew where everything is found. Her service was so professional and the reception was available whenever I had questions. I immediately felt at home. Good food and 24 hour room service. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Africa.
