The Moorland Hotel

As previously mentioned the exterior is dated but having read the good reviews this didn’t matter I checked in and was given room 5 wow lovely view from the window That’s where the positivity ends The toilet had faeces still on the side the shower area was riddled with black mould. The walls had damp and wallpaper peeling off There was no way I was staying there When I went to complain and say I would t stay there they didn’t even ask me what was wrong with the room. I was given the key to room 13 On first glance wasn’t bad Went and had food which was lovely Came back to room then started to notice more mould and peeling wallpaper sockets didn’t work etc The noises of people in the other rooms/corridor left me feeling unsafe and I resorted to wedging a chair under my door handle that night. There were a lot of workmen staying there but you can’t get breakfast until 730 This was no good to me or them as we had to leave for work before When I asked for the coat of breakfast to be refunded basically got told no !! I can honestly say this is by far the worst hotel I have ever experienced and would urge everyone not to stay here ever

Staff very friendly but that's where is ends , this place is like stepping back into the 90's shocking people actually stay here mold everywhere and stains on carpets. I don't believe these reviews are from real people we are meant to still be there and we left after the breakfast that I didn't eat cold and after i went back to room i looked up the environmental health rating and it received a 1* shocking start to finished so disappointed we've left and come home , if we weren't so exhausted last night I would have walked straight back out .this place can have so much potential and the building outside looks ok ie not falling apart needs a lick of paint but inside wow as leaving after the breakfast we noticed the electric socket hanging off the wall so dangerous.

Service excellent as was the food., cooked perfectly. I had the duck yummy. Don't go by appearance this place was a .10/10. TV four in a bed would find fault but in the important things this place is spot on and used by locals that's recommendation enough.

I stayed at the moorland night before my wedding. They were extremely accommodating. We had hair make up photographer there in the morning. Then I had some family turn up before I left. I would highly recommend staying at the moorland and I can’t wait for my photos to arrive as we took some lovely one on site. Thank you for a great experience.

This is not the first time I’ve been to the hotel and will definitely go back again. It is a very comfortable hotel and the staff are very helpful and friendly the rooms are adequately clean but a little dated. On the night that I arrived I had my family over (a party of 7 including two young children) to have an evening meal and the reviews about the food that they had were extremely good then in the morning I had an very good breakfast with everything cooked just as I would like it.

Booked deal through Groupon for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. Some parts of the hotel were a bit dated but room was clean and comfortable. View from balcony was amazing, we unfortunately arrived too late to enjoy a walk on the moors. Food was fantastic and service was great. Will definitely be returning
