We booked for three nights and had to check out after an hour. When we entered the room it smelt very damp and the air felt heavy, we thought perhaps it hadn’t been aired out recently and sat down for half an hour and unpacked. We then noticed the curtains appeared to be mouldy, as well as the headboard and the damp smell wasn’t abating. I went down to the reception and a lovely staff member offered to turn the heating on for us- but I explained I had just had a chest infection and was worried about the damp making me unwell again. He advised me the hotel was fully booked but perhaps we could ask to swap rooms in the morning. I went back to the room to inform my husband and email the customer service team. It was then that my husband closed the curtains and we noticed the windows and window sill were wet with condensation and the backs of the curtains were covered in black mould! You can see from the photos attached. This isn’t what I would expect from ANYWHERE, regardless of price! But when you are paying a couple hundred of pounds for the weekends room, you would expect at a minimum there would be no mould. I knew; given my recent ill health that I couldn’t sleep in the room and felt that after three days our clothes would absolutely stink. We immediately packed up and checked out after finding a last minute alternative - the whole experience was stressful and very, very unpleasant. Safe to say we will not stay at a Premier Inn again.
