Room decor was superb, and the room was spotless. Bed was not uncomfortable, but was two singles pulled together with no topper, so I kept rolling into the join in the middle. The building itself is old and characterful. I stayed in room 9 which was very tasteful with an industrial feel. Air conditioning/ heating worked well, however the Roku TV was a bit flaky as it works from WiFi. It is a budget hotel so did not expect much in the way of amenities, which was just as well, not even a kettle in the room which I would have had at a Travelodge. There is a coffee machine downstairs, but not really something you want to do when you wake as you have to get dressed, leave your room and head downstairs to the shared machine. The biggest let down is the irony of the place. It is called Sleep, which is something you are not going to get much of in room 9. There is no soundproofing whatsoever and the road outside is busy. The pedestrian crossing outside is like having to constantly snooze an alarm clock. Windows open or closed makes no difference to the sound of traffic, buses, nearby building works, people, screaming kids or the damned crossing. It quietened down at around 1am until around 5am where I could get some broken sleep but for the odd scooter with loud exhaust or car using the empty road as a start/finish straight. I dread to think how noisy it would be at the weekend. Some secondary glazing and some door seals would at least make a difference. In the absence of any of that, I wouldn’t stay here again. I left the hotel completely shattered.
