We stayed here overnight B&B. This is a quintessential and beautiful old English country pub; medieval in parts with a thatched roof, situated in a quiet village location. The inside is cosy and there is extensive outside seating, surrounded by fields. Staff were friendly. The rooms are contemporary, clean and comfortable, situated in a separate building nearby. Breakfast was good with very generous portions.

The Clifden Arms is such a unique property in a lovely and quiet location. We were welcomed by friendly and helpful staff and our room was beautifully decorated, with a very comfortable bed and plenty of cupboard space for our 5 night stay. The very generous and delicious breakfast was served in the lovely dining room, where we also enjoyed exceptional meals in the evening. Highly recommend this rural property which was a great base for us to explore the surrounding countryside and towns.

We recently stayed here whilst attending a wedding and all I can say is what an outstanding experience. The staff are super helpful and polite, nothing was a bother to them. The buildings are well maintained and the rooms are spacious and clean. I would definitely recommend visiting here if your looking for a lovely get away with a restaurant and pub onsite.

I ate here with three guests. Front of house is staffed by charming young people, but of little experience. We ordered a shared plate of cold cuts of seafood to start with; this normally would take 3 minutes to compose, as no cooking is involved. 45 minutes later it had not arrived; we were told in 5 more minutes, but well, you get the idea. Same thing for the main course. They managed to serve the desert (affugato – a ball of ice cream and an expresso) in 20 minutes. All in all, 2 hours to serve three courses. Front of house were very apologetic and offered to waive the service charge which I declined as the problem had nothing to do with them. Management skulked in the kitchen, never showed their face, made no apology. Lovely cadre, decent food, but I would never eat there again as I found the dereliction of duty by management to be unacceptable.

My husband and I and a friend plus our two dogs had Sunday lunch. It was fantastic. A small but imaginative menu, beautifully presented. We all had the trout marinated in gin as a start two had wonderful roast beef and one had slow cooked rolled belly pork Served by lovely willing and helpful staff. The best pub food we have ever had. We shall be back
