Severn View Hotel

I got there at 9.45 having already booked and paid for two nights accommodation. The place was closed, shrouded in darkness and had nothing welcoming about it at all. After knocking and eventually phoning them to get let in, I went into a poorly lit entrance way with one light in the distance showing the staircase. There was nothing about any of that which made me feel like staying there in any way. So I left them with two night’s paid accommodation and a resolution never to go anywhere near the place again.

I can't fathom why other people have written such negative comments, as we had a great stay here! An incredibly warm welcome and really friendly staff. The owner/manager is a truly lovely guy. The bed was comfortable and the room was perfectly clean. Yes, the floors creak a bit, but it's an old building, that does tend to happen. This hotel is walking distance to the city centre and racecourse, and under £100 a night at a weekend. You can't really ask for more! I would take other reviews with a pinch of salt as I would absolutely stay here again.

We had to cancel our visit due to sad family events. We notified hotel 2 days before, but just a matter of minutes outside of the 48 hours minimum. We expected some leniency, or a partial refund. Nothing. Very disappointed, Won’t be giving them my service on future visits

Once you get over: The out of date extinguishers, plus the ones used to hold the door open The fire door stating "Push bar to open" with no bar to push The dried blood on the room walls The stains on the 'fresh' bedding The exposed electrical wires The gamble of whether you will have a warm shower, or not, and the electrics above the shower The cups with dried coffee in them The leaking sink in the kitchen area The 'something' living down the side of the sofas The smoke alarms hanging from the ceiling that seem to have no electric running to them The bed with broken feet making you feel as if your lying on a hill You realise that the hotel is in a good location, which was good, as we chose to spend as little time as possible in the room. We also chose not to have breakfast there as we thought if the room is in the state it is, we'd hate to think of how the kitchen is. The saying goes "You get what you pay for!" however, at the very least, I'd want to feel clean and safe! The only reason we didn't walk away is because, due to many events happening in Worcester that weekend, there were no hotels available. I did complain, and I did get some of my money back however, I will never stay here again and the owners of this hotel, in my view, seriously need to consider closing down and having a major refurb!

Would definitely avoid this hotel, only good thing is the area it is in is perfect for shopping and by the river. It was very dirty, the cups in the room were filthy as was the kettle, bathroom was disgusting, floor wasn't clean throughout and there were flies in the room. There were bare wires behind the bed, the bedroom window was broken and the safety had been left hanging. The stairs were dangerous, the top of each flight had wooden boards at the top and weren't level with the stairs. Breakfast was fine but I didn't have the cereal as I couldn't find a clean bowl to use.

This place is in need of a refurb!! Everything is old in need of repair !! Room was ok warm and clean ! Easy access to Christmas markets so good location just expect BASIC! DONT BOOK BREAKFAST! All the crockery was chipped!! Full English was warmed up old sausages and not that warm really !! Just rubbish!! There are plenty of places to have food in town!

Believe the reviews that say this place is terrible... it's filthy, in a terrible state of repair, there was mould all over the shower and the shower didn't get more than slightly warm, room smelt of cigarettes

The welcome was superb at the Severn View Hotel, yet the rest of the stay was a roller-coaster of highs and lows. A building has a wealth of age and history presents a hotel full of character in a wonderful location on the banks of the mighty River Severn yet also right on the main road through the town which could present sleep problems if you are not used to traffic noise despite the new windows. The main bedroom in room 4 was nicely decorated, functional, and large for a single room. The Wi-Fi was excellent, the small television was okay. The bed was absolutely wonderful, brilliant memory foam mattress, lovely feather duvet, and great pillows all of which aided a great nice sleep for me. However, the en-suite bathroom was unacceptably pitiful, with broken fixtures and more worryingly a very moldy shower cubicle and a weak shower. Breakfast was a welcome addition, freshly cooked and tasty. So a hotel of ups and downs yet the price was right providing value for money.
