Excellent stay, very clean and good breakfast. Lovely location and helpful staff.

As soon as we walked into the room we were hit by a musky damp smell, window cannot be opened for ventilation, had room on 1st floor overlooking carpark and view of river and bridge leading into town. Bathroom had shower curtain in bath for having a shower and not shower screen, we tend to find on showering the curtain tends to want to fly towards you! Extractor fan almost non existent, possibly why it smelt so damp in room. Noticed all our clothes smelt of this musky smell when we got home and unpacked. Car park £10 for 24hrs not owned by hotel, is public car park.

If you use this hotel be extremely careful when paying for parking. £100 fines are issued liberally. the hotel is great but spoilled by the parking machines which do not work properly and dont try appealling as that is a complete waste of time too

Brilliant first stay. Very easy self check in. Great spacious room on the top floor with an amazingly comfy bed. Very quiet considering how busy it was. Tay the waiter on duty in the evening was so friendly, professional and courteous , he went out of his way to assist us with enquiries. The breakfast staff were just as helpful and the full English breakfast was of great quality , especially the bacon and succulent sausages. cooked by obviously talented chefs. Moreover the array of cereals , pastries and drink selection were plentiful. Best Pain Au Chocolat we've ever had - so fresh. Well team Premier Inn you were fabulous , and whatever they are paying you isn't enough! We will definitely be back . Ok so the room was a good standard, as was the view on to the cricket ground. But would we stay here again? Not a chance. We opened the door to the room only to find the heating belting away - and all the time we were here we never managed to cool it down to an acceptable temperature - it was horrid. Someone in a room further down the corridor wedged their door open with a shoe! Surly reception staff who sauntered in, saw us waiting (the 'terminals' weren't working - one had a notice on saying "oops"!), they sat down and started tapping away on the laptop with no warm welcome - or any welcome at all in fact. Ten quid to park. I could go on and on about accessing the car park - or not, but the only safe option seemed to be going over the river bridge and doing a little loop in the town and coming back over the bridge and using the big entrance, rather than try and almost 90 degree turn across merging traffic and going down the 'one way' lane. The postcode had taken us to a locked gate to the cricket ground car park so three laps later we actually found our way in and unloaded the car.
