The Crown

This is a great place to stay. We had room 5 at the top which felt like an apartment. The bed was really comfy and the roll top bath was fabulous. Breakfasts are superb. The staff are so lovely, everyone was helpful & nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay again.

My husband and I stayed here during Woodstock festival weekend. Great location. We had room 4 (I think) and the room was huge and amazing! Massive bed, seating area, outside roof area with seating, absolutely gorgeous bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower. Coffee/tea making facilities. Breakfast was included in the price and very tasty. Great menu to choose from. Lovely bar with a great choice of drinks. Staff are wonderful, so helpful and kind, we really enjoyed talking to them. Would stay here again and 100% recommend.

Beautiful, clean and spacious room on the top floor. There is a steep narrow staircase but we managed it ok and we’re both nearly 60. Freestanding bath that filled quickly with plenty of hot water so although there was only a shower attachment, it was a real treat to have a luxurious bath with lovely Cowshed bath and hair treatments. Fresh milk and cold water provided plus loose tea leaves, fresh coffee, teapot and cafetière. The bed was huge, very comfortable with crisp covers and pillows. We were staying for 4 nights as attending Salon Privee at Blenheim Palace. Plenty of room for our luggage and clothes plus room to sit and feel like home. As mentioned in other reviews, it is a characterful room in the eaves and hence warm. They do provide fans but they were a bit noisy so maybe an upgrade is needed but that said, how lovely to have warm weather in England! We had breakfast 2 mornings and it was delicious and plentiful, served by friendly and attentive waiters. The vegetarian breakfast was one of the best I have eaten. We did not eat in the evening as had events on most evenings. We did try to eat one evening but hadn’t booked a table as we had been told that a table would be kept for us if needed. Not a problem though. The Crown is very close to Blenheim Palace and a lovely stroll through Woodstock to get there. We would definitely recommend to people and would stay again. It was quite expensive but I think that was due to the event at Blenheim. However, it was half the price of The Bear further along road.

Visiting a girlfriend in Woodstock from Australia for two weeks we ate and drank at The Crown a number of times. The service was mostly very friendly and eficient, though the service on Sunday afternoon with the team of younger guys on was a bit haphazard with orders forgotten and needing to be followed up. All in all, a typical English pub vibe with a good wine list and a friendly vibe inside and out.

Very stylish rooms, great decor, lovely furniture touches. Super comfy beds, plenty of space. Food options for breakfast were great (we did not have dinner). Staff are really helpful and friendly, great service, chatty and always with a smile. I would recommend The Crown to anyone.

We didn’t stay here so my review is of the restaurant. I loved it from the minute we came in. It’s traditional but stylish and we had a lovely welcome. Emily was our waitress, and couldn’t have been better. What a girl, totally delightful, very bright, and utterly charming, and nothing was too much trouble. The meal itself was very good, and the wine was great. We were able to sample a little of our chosen wine beforehand, which we really appreciated. Overall it was the best night of our 3 in Woodstock, and I’d definitely recommend it.

Quirky little place. Our room was on the top floor. The stairs were extremely narrow and steep. Unsuitable if you had a large suitcase or were elderly. The bed was very low but comfy with good pillows. Breakfast was good. There is parking outside but always full. Unsuitable for more than one night. No shower, just a bath.

We were greated by a friendly host and showed to our room straight away. We stayed in the Attic room (#5) and it was a warm day. There were 2 fans running but without AC it was a warm experience trying to sleep that night unless you could put up with the sound of fans running. The room was fairly querky but had everything you need except a proper shower, just a bathbut in the main room with no curtain. The bed was large and quite soft. We couldn't have breakfast until 9:00 but it was very good and served by friendly staff. It is right in the middle of the village and quite near Blenheim palace so good location.

A wonderful stay in a great location with very attentive staff providing excellent service. We occupied two rooms on a hot summer day! The room under the roof was fairly hot upon arrival, but with all windows open it cooled down quickly as the temperature fell in the evening hours. Otherwise, we especially enjoyed the rooms and the delicious breakfast!
