SpringHill Suites by Marriott Wixom Novi

My husband had a conference nearby, so my son and I tagged along for a weekend getaway. The room was clean and spacious, however the layout was a little weird. The bathroom door was at the foot of the beds and slid open barnstyle. It was like an opaque window. It wasn't see through, but when my husband got up early for his conference, the light from the bathroom shone through the door and lit up the entire room making it difficult to sleep. The breakfast was good. The staff did a good job making sure nothing ran out. The days we were there they offered scrambled eggs, sausage, pre made waffles, oatmeal with lots of toppings, hard boiled eggs, 4 different dry cereals with milk, yogurt, toast, bagels, muffins, souffle, juice, coffee, and milk. They also had coffee available all day in the lobby. There's a Culver's right next door and other restaurants within walking distance as well as an Aldi's across the street for groceries, so you won't starve. There was a nice gazebo across the parking lot with a couple grills and a fire pit. There was also a fire pit right outside the breakfast area. The pool was a little small ( no swimming laps lol) and there wasn't a hot tub. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again.

Nice, clean, bright, good smelling hotel. Immediately greeted by staff upon check-in. room was nice, spacious and clean. Lobby was exceptionally clean. Beer and liquor available in the lobby. Functioning swimming pool and free breakfast in the morning. Couldn’t imagine the better stay. Also enjoyed some nice time around the fire pit on the patio. Matt was honestly the most kind and accommodating hotel staff member I’ve had in the last year and I’ve spent 15 of the last 21 days in a hotel. If I owned this hotel, I would give Matt a raise or promote him. Made this stay fun. We stay in this area often for travel baseball and I will now drive past multiple other hotels to stay at this one. Kudos Matt!

The breakfast is dismal and the front desk staff do not acknowledge the customer. We had a bad experience and decided to leave early. We were told Marriott has a new “early departure” fee of one night’s stay (we were staying just 2 nights.) When we asked for an exception, we were told “the policy is on our confirmation email.” Policy first…not Marriott’s Core Value of putting People First. Please book elsewhere.

I stayed over the weekend for a birthday party. The hotel was nice and clean and the service from everyone was great. I must mention that Shay, at the front desk, was exceptional! We had a birthday party and there was also traveling sports teams staying at the hotel. I had several requests and Shay met all of them with a smile. She handled everything so professionally and I appreciate her making us feel welcome.

Super clean! Matt was absolutely amazing for us! Anything we needed, he got us. What an asset to this hotel! Soccer tournament and I truly couldn’t have been more pleased! My kids and the parents etc had a blast! Coffee was amazing and my kids loved the cereal!Thank you!!

Been staying here a lot for work. Breakfast options keep dwindling. Used to have oatmeal and they’ve taken that away. Also the front desk person doesn’t smile and once needed an extra night stay but was told they were sold out even though the hotel lot was pretty empty. She seemed to not want to deal with the effort of booking an additional night.

The hotel itself is very nice. The room was clean and had plenty of space. The staff, however, was the problem. We had made a reservation and confirmed that we were coming and told them about a late check-in. They gave our room away and then made us pay for another room to accommodate the amount of guest we already had on our original reservation. This apparently was a new night manager, but she did give plenty of attitude when we were discussing our options. We left the GM a message, and she helped us and even refunded our stay, but the hassle should have been avoided in the first place.

Overall, a terrible experience staying at this hotel… save your money and time. Over the weekend I stayed at this hotel after an event at Ford Field. While the drive is about 30 minutes outside the city I felt the price was worth it (Spoiler: IT IS NOT!). I checked in with a group of 4 friends around midnight and we had booked a room with 2 queen beds and a pullout far in advance. The lady working the front desk notified my group they had sold out of rooms with the 2 queen bed accommodation and only had rooms with 1 king bed available (This was booked well in advance). Obviously 4 grown people cannot squeeze into 1 bed. Rather than the hotel offering us an extra room for overbooking the hotel, they decided to charge us for another room and let us talk to the manager in the morning. Do you think the manager was there in the morning? Or course not! I was told I would get a call back the next night… and of course no phone call. We stayed 1 night (9 hours total) and it was a complete disaster. Save your hard earned money and stay somewhere close and with better management.

We were in Detroit for a conference. The first night the conference hotel was at capacity due to a concert in the city, so we stayed at this SpringHill. We walked into a nice lobby which smelled and looked very clean. They were short staffed so we were quite gracious with the desk clerk when he was away for about 10 minutes, when we arrived to check in. Our room was okay, but it was not the cleanest. Definitely not normal Marriott brand standards.
