The Waterford Castle and surrounding grounds are amazing. It is such a peaceful place. The staff deserves a 5 star rating for kindness, helpfulness and a good bit of humor. The lodges are perfect for families. The taxi drivers are accommodating!

I stayed in a 6-person lodge for a couple of nights and overall it was a great experience! They were very reasonably priced, and the ferry over and back to the mainland is frequent, so we were never waiting longer than 10 minutes. Note: the beds are all small double beds, so it is a bit of a squeeze if you are sharing, but they were comfortable enough. There is considerably more space downstairs, where it all feels well laid-out, but the bedrooms are quite tight. Kitchen was adequate, but there was only just enough of many things, so another 4-6 of each item would really have made life easier (cups, plates, bowls etc). The picnic table out the back was a lovely touch, as was all the green space. The grounds itself are gorgeous and there is a fabulous trail you can walk all around the island. There is a small playground for children, but it is very basic. I would recommend it for a group who want a peaceful weekend away.

This is the most beautiful and picture perfect island. Our Wedgewood Suite was great. Very elegant and comfortable. If want elegance and charm, this is the place. Nowhere have I felt so important or taken care of. Every need or want was number one priority because it is their goal to serve the customer. My husband and son played golf. They couldn’t rave enough about hw perfect the course was, how pristine the putting green. Elegance from start to finish.

Honestly the worst ever Afternoon Tea I have ever eaten & I’ve had a few. As per the photo, the portions were miserly, there were no sandwiches at all. The scones were hard and stale. The beef offering on top of a soggy slice of cucumber, served on a hard as rock piece of bruschetta, was inedible. There was a mini-doughnut that was as dense as cement and equally as tasteless and the price…….100 euros for two people! Do yourselves a favour, take your money elsewhere, have a nice meal somewhere else instead & don’t offer this experience up as a special treat. It isn’t!

We wanted to stay in a castle during our visit to Ireland and Waterford was a great choice. Quiet beautiful setting, staff was top notch and so was the food. The room was comfortable and the bathroom clean and roomy. There are nice trails to walk, weather permitting. The staff went above and beyond to tell us the easiest route to leave on our journey.

My husband I enjoyed our one night stay in the castle. Our room was charming. We enjoyed a walk around the property, before the rain set on. Our dinner was a complete delicious delight. We loved talking to servers. We felt like friends by the time our dinner was over. I did not expect to have a large dinner, because it was four courses, but I could not eat it all(which made my husband happy). Our meat was done to perfection. We then enjoyed some time in the beautiful bar room. The bartender was delightful and very informative. My husband enjoyed a flight of scotch. We learned much and he enjoyed his Scotch. He was even allowed to look at a very rare Scotch, over 1,000 euro a shot!! To end our too short stay, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. If we get back to Ireland , I would love to visit Water Castle again. Thank you for the hospitality, Margaret and John Harris Sherrills Ford, NC, USA

We stayed two nights in the Castle and could not have enjoyed it more! The staff was exceptional and the room was the best I have ever been in. The island retreat is magical with its walking trails and natural setting. It was truly relaxing. Only wish we had had more time! We hope to return again!

Room was hot but it didn’t matter because everything else was spectacular. Sally at the front desk gave us great recommendations on things to do and David brought us drinks and made us feel so welcome. The clubhouse was perfect for a more relaxed meal but the formal meal at the castle was amazing. The bread was the best I’d ever eaten! I would recommend this venue 100%

Excellent location, beautifully maintained grounds in a peaceful setting. We were at a wedding and stayed in a lodge. Very comfortable, which catered for all our needs. Excellent service at the hotel, very pleasant and professional staff, couldn’t do enough for us.
