Disappointing Stay – Unpleasant Room and Poor Customer Service
We stayed in one of the motel's budget rooms, fully aware that we shouldn’t expect luxury—but even with modest expectations, our experience was deeply disappointing.
We booked a budget room over the Easter weekend and unfortunately had a very unpleasant experience. The room had a terrible smell—like a mix of cigarette smoke and mould—that hit us as soon as we walked in. The bathroom was extremely small and outdated, with cracked tiles and visible black mould, which was pretty concerning from a hygiene and health perspective. The air quality in the room was so poor that we felt nauseated and unwell after a few hours of stay. We had to cut our stay short -- leaving at 2am to sleep in the car -- for the sake of our health.
We raised these issues with reception, hoping they might offer a solution or at least express some concern, but their attitude was surprisingly dismissive. It felt like they expected us to accept these conditions simply because it was a budget room, which is unacceptable. Regardless of the price point, a room should be clean and safe to stay in.
We understand it was a busy Easter weekend and they were fully booked, so there were no other rooms available to move us to. But what really stood out was their lack of basic customer service—no apology, no real attempt to make things right beyond eventually refunding us for the rest of our stay when we chose to leave.
Overall, while we appreciate the refund, the situation could have been handled much better. Customer service was sorely lacking, and the condition of the room should never have been considered acceptable to begin with.
