We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Gateway Hotel, Vizag. The property is right across the beach and has an amazing view from the restaurant & bar. This property is 30+ yrs old but location is something to die for...Rooms are comfortable, breakfast spread is good. The best thing about this hotel is the Happy Hours which offers BUY1GET1 at Lawson Lounge until 10 pm. The staff is hospitable, they arranged a special table for us overlooking the sea. At the restaurant, staff accommodated our special request for kids food. The best thing I liked about the hotel was it's transparency. Right at the check-out counter, they have placed a placard stating 5% service charge is optional and u can claim it back. Most hotels hide this information while here we have a hotel that is vocal about it...thoroughly loved it! Areas of improvement: Bathrooms are dimly lit, clothes hanging hook is above the toilet seat which makes it unusable. Note: This property does not have a private beach

1. I would rather suggest to go for novotel or welcome as the rooms quality are not that good . 2. The food choice in buffet is hardly 10 items where in other restaurants you get 15-20. 3. Quality of food is very bad. 4 windows of the room are not clean enough to have beautiful sunset experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel during our 3 day Vizag trip! Hotel is well maintained and worth the price. We also got a surprise upgrade from standard room that I had booked to a beautiful sea facing room in 5th floor. The sea view from our room was wonderful. Swimming pool is also very well maintained and very kids friendly. My 5 year old daughter fully enjoyed her first swimming experience here. Fittness center is also well maintained. The staff were very courteous and friendly, ready to help us whenever we asked. We were very happy with their services. Special callout to the staff at GAD who went an extra mile to help arrange dinner food that we requested for our daughter. Also, special callout to the front office team: Srijan, Reshma, Abbas & Pankaj all of whom became best friends of our daughter! Would definitely stay here if we visit Vizag again!

We stayed here for one day. This CANNOT be called a five star or luxury hotel. Reasons:- 1. The front desk staff told us he had given us an upgrade, even though he had given us the WORST ROOM possible of the same thing we had booked and paid for. The worst HUMILIATION possible. 2. The room had one big HOARDING BLOCKING the sea view. The pictures in the website is totally misleading. 3. So ***y implements not working. JACUZZI not working . Male STEAM BATH door handle broke and no way to get out. SWIMMING POOL closed at 7 PM. 4.SHABBY ROOM. NEEDS IMMEDIATE RENOVATION. PICTURE ATTACHED. DO NOT STAY HERE. JUST GIVE 3 K MORE TO STAY AT NOVOTEL.The DIFFERENCE is huge . We stayed at both. NOVOTEL was the best and GATEWAY the worst experience of our lifetime. This hotel is a DISGRACE to the taj name. Good thing is that they allowed early check in to us (12.30 pm)..and the buffet food was good.. My suggestion to the ***agement is that employ professional honest front desk staff...renovate the hotel...buy the hoarding space and remove it to improve the view from room... My suggestion to travellers....avoid this hotel. And if you want to stay de***d 5th and 6th floor rooms to make the view little better...in any case, do not accept 2nd 3rd and 4th floor rooms...it is better to stay any other hotels

Service is the issue.It is not upto "Taj" or 5-star rated hotel standards.Rooms are excellent and USP of the hotel.They have colonial heritage touch.I used to visit this hotel with my father when I was a kid.I had chosen this hotel specifically for revisiting my memories. * Please provide newspapers in room. *Bathtubs should be present in premiere rooms. *Service quality should improve.In the restaurant service quality is very poor.I had to wait 20 minutes during dinner time in order to place my order Comparatively during breakfast it was ok types.They were busy in attending their own hotel bosses ignoring the guests.Staff are not multi-lingual.Food was great. Location is the USP of the hotel This hotel is still my preferred choice.We are loyal customers of The Taj Vizag and would visit again as memories are associated with it.
