Four Sails Resort

The property is well situatted with many restaurants open even in the off season. Our 1 bedroom suite had a balcony overlooking the ocean. Sunrise in the AM and the moon over the ocean at night were breathtaking. The resort could use some updating but it was clean. The staff were friendly, helpful and responsive.

A last-minute vacation got in on the beach—oceanfront. Parking is awful for bigger cars and is limited. There is no elevator for upper parking. It needs updating, but it is okay for a last-minute vacation.

When I arrived at Four Sails on Aug 26. I had booked a week for my 80th birthday with oceanfront view. My daughter in law help me since I’m handicapped and walking with a walker to unload my luggage. Checking in the elevator was broke down! 2 1/2 hrs later we got to the room!!!! Also while checking I was told I had to moved on day 5 to another room!! Unacceptable!!!! I have lived and worked in Virginia Bech for over 70 years!! I have stayed at Four Sails at least 4 times since I moved to Florida and returned for family advents!!! This experience was the pits!! I won’t book Four Sails again!!!!

Awesome ocean views from the unit balcony! One bedroom unit was small, but fine, for a couple and twenty-five year old son. Kitchen pots and pans are minimal -- no flat pans, for example. Bring anything that you think that you might need and keep it in your car unless you need it. Bring extra toilet paper -- only one roll provided for the week. Musty smell in the bedroom closet that leaked into the bedroom. We handled it with twice-daily sprays of Fabreeze. The single elevator malfunctioned on check-out day and refused to open on our floor. (It worked on all the other floors.) So we had to lug our baggage down the stairs one floor to catch the elevator. Minor inconveniences. The great views make us ready to go back!

The location of the property (beachfront) was very nice. The staff was very friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. The property itself was a little outdated and definitely wasn’t the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed. It was good, just not great.

The room we got was not the room we paid for. We brought this to the managers attention and he showed us a room we thought we could move to but then the room was suddenly unavailable . The elevator was broken for the first three days of our five-day stay. A woman was in the lobby when we went to talk about the room ranting because the elevator was broken, it was over 90 degrees and she was supposed to check into the suite in the 11th floor. After she left the manager told us if we moved rooms it would be on the 11th floor. With the elevator broken we said no way. There was a lingering smell in the hallway. The detergent dispenser in the laundry room was broken and remained so for our entire stay so we had to go out and buy detergent at a convenience store and pay much more. When we reported this to the manager he called maintenance to meet me in the room but maintenance said “well…I’m on the fourth floor right now “…. I got annoyed and walked away. ( manager did offer to reimburse us for the detergent but I was so disgusted I said no thanks) Finally, we saw a huge cockroach on our shower curtain one morning about 4 days into our stay. The location was nice, the maid service was good, and Katie’s Cafe was very nice.
