Beautiful area and hotel looks very pretty. Staff were nice and friendly. I paid a lot in thought for our room which was ‘superior’ but I wouldn’t call it that. The ‘terrace’ had hard bamboo chairs with no cushions so couldn’t sit outside. The view is the car park so whilst ok for one night not the expectation I had. Breakfast was lovely and location perfect. We were told on arrival the restaurant was booked but we managed to eat at a restaurant opposite which was excellent so I would recommend that. Also beware parking charges - you need to pay for public street parking and remember to do it in time. Overall a nice hotel, not special and could do with some updating.

Extremely helpful front desk. We arrived just in time to check in. So we saw our room immediately. Nicely modern, up to date bathroom and a very comfortable bed. This room, 104, has a private terrace. Great for your morning coffee. It is difficult to get reservations in the restaurant . You need to call well ahead. We ate elsewhere and there plenty of good choices. Breakfast has plenty of choices.

Obviously this building has undergone many changes and adaptations over the years, so one can't expect things to be as in a modern purpose built hotel. That being said I had an excellent 4 night stay in a room on the top floor overlooking the square. All functioned well and one is provided with kettle/coffee/tea/2 bottles of mineral water daily. In spite of the main road passing in front of the hotel the traffic at night is minimal. Breakfasts and the Michelin restaurant are rather dear but there are possibilities to eat elsewhere in the village but a reservation would be advised. For those travelling by public transport the bus stops are outside the hotel as well as the letter box. (There isn't one at the post office, due to terrorist fears). For car travellers I would recommend reserving a parking spot, for which they charge not by the day but by the night. All the staff I had dealing with were most helpful, friendly and efficient. They even allow you to speak French!

You need to be aware that this place is on the main road which is a major lorry route. The road goes up hill in front then wraps round behind downhill. There is single glazing only so no chance of any sleep. The room which was “superior” was so basic. The air conditioner unit broke about 11pm, but even when turned off continued to make terrible noises all night. There is no reception at night so there is nothing you can do. When looking for someone around midnight I found the huge double window a ground level left wide open so anyone could have walked in. We had booked for 4 nights but had to leave after one night (they charged us for two nights). They did get an engineer in promptly for the air conditioning unit in the morning, when he came he seemed to imply that this was not a rare problem. We asked if they might offer us a breakfast on the house as a gesture of apology but they declined. The hotel is over priced as it is in Vezelay which is rated as one the the prettiest villages in the area, while in is ok offers very little. Be aware that the all the towns restaurants including this hotel are closed on Tuesdays so you can’t eat anywhere

Great location to visit this lovely small town. Stayed 2 nights in a lovely room with a balcony. Staff was very helpful and made our dinner reservation at the "White Horse" which is nearby with excellent food. I asked my travel agent to book a "small boutique hotel" so was surprised when a tour bus dropped off a very large and very loud tour group. Travel agent issue but don't expect a quiet hotel filled with couples or families. Breakfast was a bit of a letdown after all the lovely breakfasts we enjoyed during our prior two weeks in France.

This is a comfortable hotel situated at the bottom of the hill on which the medieval town of Vézelay is perched. Apart from the ramparts walk, everything in the town is uphill and must be accessed by foot, so be advised if you have difficulty walking. (There is handicapped access to the Basilique Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, so I suppose there must be some allowance for vehicular access.) Our room faced the Place Champ du Foire, which is quite active during the day with market stalls, tourists and pilgrims beginning their walk to Santiago de Compostela. It quietens down at night, but the D951 is immediately in front of the hotel, so be prepared for the noise of lorries passing by. The room was comfortable, we liked the king-size bed, which had a very good mattress. The bathroom was well-appointed but a bit of a squeeze for two people, unless one was in the shower. There were some period pieces of furniture which frankly had seen better days. The wardrobe had only hanging space for very short items, which was a drawback. Breakfast was excellent, with a good selection of items. As there is not much competition, the hotel is on the expensive side—but it was a special birthday visit for us. The staff are friendly and helpful—if you speak French (which we do). There is a very good chef at the hotel restaurant so I would recommend at least one dinner in-house. There is a bar and a terrace for a relaxing drink. All in all, a good place to stay

Hôtel très agréable. Bellechambre bien agencée et décorée avec une jolie vue sur la campagne environnante. Le buffet du petit-déjeuner est bien assorti et propose une variété de produits faits maison. Malheureusement je n'ai pu dîner à l'hôtel car il n'y a pas de service à la carte. C'est peut-être à revoir.

Nous avons passé un agréable week-end de 2 nuits dans cet hôtel restaurant fin juin. L'accueil s'est très bien passé, la chambre supérieure est vraiment agréable avec une belle vue sur la campagne. Les fenêtres ferment avec des volets roulants ce qui permet de dormir la fenêtre ouverte et ainsi de se passer de la climatisation qui nous a été utile pour refroidir la chambre avant de dormir. La salle de douche était équipée d'une superbe grande douche. L’hôtel étant très ancien, il ne faut pas espérer une isolation acoustique au top avec les voisins du dessus (pour des pas très appuyés) par contre les voisins de murs mitoyens aucun soucis. L’hôtel est situé à l'entrée de la rue principale de Vézelay ce qui est parfait pour les visites pédestre du village, juste une rue à traversée et vous êtes dans le village. Pour le stationnement, il n'y a que 3 places à 20€/jour dans l’hôtel. Sinon, c'est à l'extérieur, devant l'hôtel et payant en espérant avoir de la place les jours de fortes affluences. Le restaurant de l'hôtel est très gastronomique et un peu cher. Nous avons manger les deux soirs. Le premier, nous avions un menu à 3 plats à 62€. Les 2 premiers plats sont bons et le dessert de fruits rouge est vraiment excellent. Nous avons terminer le café en terrasse ce qui est parfait. Le lendemain, nous avions le menu en 6 plats. Malheureusement, une erreur de préparation et de service pour une allergie bien signalée nous a fait écourtée le repas après le premier plat car mon épouse a une réaction allergique. Les serveurs comme la direction était au plus mal après cette erreur. Pour terminer, le petit déjeuner est agréable et peu est pris en terrasse mais à mon avis ne vaut pas 25€, tout au plus 20€. Il n'y a rien de plus qu'un autre hôtel 4* qui ont des petits déjeuners semblables à 15€. Pour conclure, tout était parfait sauf l'erreur de service mais cela ne nous empêchera pas d'y retourner.
