"Das Hotel ist zwar modern, aber in die Jahre gekommen und hat wenig Charme. Wir dachten, es gehöre zu einer internationalen Kette, aber das ist offensichtlich nicht mehr der Fall. Die Zimmer sind unpersönlich und riechen stark nach Schimmel. Mücken machen es schwer, die Terrasse richtig zu genießen. Das Personal ist nicht besonders freundlich und sehr unterschiedlich. Der Weg zum Strand ist für ältere Gäste etwas gefährlich und schließt um 19 Uhr. Das Restaurant und das Frühstücksbuffet sind recht ordentlich und reichhaltig. Die Massagen waren in Ordnung. Der Pool wäre angenehmer, wenn der Bademeister nicht ständig auf der Hut wäre und einen verdächtigen würde, Handtücher stehlen zu wollen. Kurz gesagt, es ist ein durchschnittliches Hotel, das internationalen Standards nicht mehr entspricht."

"Das Hotel ist neu und sauber. Fotos sind überflüssig, da alle Bilder auf Tripcom der Realität entsprechen. Die Möbel sind neu und in exzellentem Zustand. Klimaanlage und Ventilatoren funktionieren einwandfrei. Warmwasser gibt es auch, allerdings muss *** etwas warten, bis es abgelaufen ist. Es gibt einen Kühlschrank (neu und geruchsneutral), einen Wasserkocher und einen Fernseher (wir haben ihn nicht eingeschaltet, daher wissen wir nicht, ob er funktioniert). Seife, Zahnbürste, Zahnpasta, Kamm und Shampoo werden bei der Ankunft bereitgestellt. Alles ist in kleinen Verpackungen. Der Service im Hotel ist genauso gut wie in Europa. Bei allen Problemen wurde uns geholfen. So eine Gastfreundschaft haben wir schon lange nicht mehr erlebt. Wir reisen seit etwa acht Jahren durch Asien und haben daher gute Vergleichsmöglichkeiten. Dieses Hotel ist das beste, in dem wir bisher waren. Es liegt etwas weit von den Stränden entfernt. Der nächste Strand ist etwa 20 Gehminuten entfernt. Aber wenn Sie einen Roller mieten, sollte das kein Problem sein. Das Hotel bietet Parkplätze und einen 24-Stunden-Sicherheitsdienst. Wir kamen sehr früh an und konnten ohne Aufpreis einchecken. Das Frühstück war ein vegetarisches Buffet. Wir geben dem Hotel und dem Personal 10 von 10 Punkten!"

"Had a beautiful stay here for three nights in Varkala. I wish we could have stayed longer. Rooms tidy and clean with a wood furniture vibe and a small porch / verandah outside. Air con and fan, kettle and a small fridge. The rest of the space is just beautiful. Outside the rooms is full of plants and light. Upstairs there is a beautiful French / South Indian fusion cafe, and a large, light space for yoga, dance etc and a small gym area (kettle bells, bench, dumb bells, bands, boxes, various other bits and pieces). There is also a small treatment room for massage and Ayurveda treatments. I did a yoga class with Rajan which was absolutely wonderful - only three of us in the class, for 1.5 hours+ and he was very attentive. I’ve never felt so relaxed in my life. Then I had 30 mins reflexology with Dr. Ajitha which was also wonderful. Breakfast was included in the room - I had the Indian breakfast which was two nicely cooked dosa, 2 eggs (cooked how you like), a spiced sauce and coffee - all was delicious. My partner had the regular breakfast which was toast (a bit brioche like), with butter and jam, two eggs and a fresh juice. We also ordered extra coffee and juices which were delicious - the fresh coconut milkshake was amazing. Beach is a 5 min walk. We also had an eagle visible from our room. All Varkala shops, restaurant, yoga places etc easy walking distance. We swam in the sea every day. Wonderful place to stay. Service great too."

"Horrible experience with this hotel. They denied us room at 6:30 PM and the staff misbehaved. They did not even contact us before denying us the room, we booked 20 days in advance. They could have provided us with the next available room but the greedy management asked us for money or asked us to leave the property as if we are beggars. Strict action should be taken against the property as guest from all over the country might face the same issue again."

"There’s a phrase in Indian hospitality: Atithi Devo Bhava — “The guest is god.” Akshay treated me like a goddess. They offered me a beautiful room at a generous price and truly tended to every need. I caught a small bug during my stay; when I didn’t emerge from my room for a day, they quietly sent someone to check on me. That kind of care is rare. The staff helped with everything — finding supplies, giving directions, arranging my taxi to the airport. They refilled my water bottles daily, sparing me from contributing more plastic to the world. Everyone greeted me with a warm smile and a gentle “How are you, madam?” and I felt cared for in every way. My room was spacious and lovely, with an excellent air conditioner. There was a little fridge, and they brought me a kettle and a mug for my essential predawn coffee. Nothing I asked for was ever refused. I felt truly welcomed here. And the patio — I loved that space. It sits right above the street, so there’s a steady flow of life passing by, but I was tucked behind a railing and plants, mostly shielded from view. It gave me the rare pleasure of being on my own while still feeling connected to the pulse of Varkala. I spent so many hours there writing, sipping tea, and taking in the world. The beach is just a short walk down a lively lane full of shops and cafés. Varkala has many dogs, and while that can sometimes be hard to witness, the dogs here are cared for. I watched a team feeding the beach dogs, making sure the shy ones weren’t pushed aside. It told me a lot about the heart of this place. Varkala Beach is rich with culture, tradition, and spirituality. I’ve loved my time here and am truly sad to be leaving tomorrow. Come to Varkala. Stay at Akshay. It’s a place where kindness is a daily ritual, and guests are treated with genuine devotion."

"My experience during the stay was extremely pathetic 1. Reception counter was most of time empty , Linen was dirty inside the room. 2 No Intercom Facility 3. We had to search a person everytime to provide water 4. There is no restaurant and no proper place to eat. We had to order food from Zomato. Moreover No Buffet Breakfast. The only Breakfast they had was omelette , Water Melon, Cold Sambha and small cold dosas. One should order one thing at a time, otherwise they bring all items after making you wait for an hour. 5. Jhoola / Swing was broken. 6. During Power cut off, the staff had to be searched in the whole property to switch on the generator, 7. Overgrown grass in the lawn, no place to walk. 8 And Sorry, no good views from the property. Absolutely waste of time and money. Not recommended at all . Visit and Explore at your own risk"
