Unfortunately we were very disappointed by this hotel experience. On arrival the lobby smells musty and our rooms smelled even worse and entirely damp as if there had been flooding. I think this may be the case as on several floors there was mattresses etc in the corridors. I managed to swap rooms to one which smelt better and I can’t fault the staff in their handling of this however like my first room this was dated, rundown and generally in need of improvement. Baths were dirty in two of our room and the drains smelled bad. Appliances like the fridge were very out of date and looked unclean and the plug socket came off in my hand when I tried to unplug my own appliance. Mattresses are rock solid as were the pillows which look very old and in need of replacement. My friend had torn bedding in her room as well as stains on towels etc. I had laundry done while I was staying which was delivered back to me with some items still damp. When I told housekeeping about this they told me to just dry them in the room which having paid for this service isn’t acceptable. I will say the food and restaurant staff were excellent as were the hotel shops and their staff and goods. Additionally the housekeeping staff (I didn’t get his name) was exceptional in his kindness and hospitality. The bar however was laughable with all of our orders made wrong, simply told no to what we wanted to order in the first place and unable to make the majority of the menu. We were booked here as part of a tour and this was in the 4 star comfort category which is simply not the case and I will pass this onto our tour provider. To make matters worse when I tried to argue the bill. For laundry on checkout the manager on duty Mr Shunkars attitude was appalling and combative. I explained I wouldn’t be paying for the wet items or the express delivery charge when we had the standard charge. His response was unprofessional, unhelpful and generally unacceptable. Overall, I simply would not recommend for your trip.
